Professor Irv Joyner is on WNCU 90.7 FM Thursday, February 24 at 1pm.

During reconstruction from 1868 to 1898, Wilmington North Carolina was a prosperous seaport with a lively African American population participating in the growth of that town after the Civil War. They held important political offices, owned property, operated businesses and were gainfully employed in a variety of jobs. That changed when former confederate leaders and racist forces conducted the first and only military takeover of a legally elected governmental body in United States history. In the fourth episode of our Lunch and Learn Series for Black History Month, Irving Joyner, one of the country’s astute legal educators and professor at NCCU School of Law (Nccu Law)talks about the take-over. Listen to WNCU 90.7 FM at North Carolina Central University beginning at 1:00 p.m. on February 24 to learn more or stream live online at wncu.org and via the WNCU mobile app.
