It's officially time! for! tea! Join TONIGHT, 8/20, at West Art for SPiLL: a sober-ish q***r social featuring tea, talk, and tunes!
Inspired by gay tea dances of the 1950s, SPiLL is a 21+ BYO social with one goal: the creation of a space to do q***r joy free from judgment. We provide the space and sound, you provide stuff to do, be it solo, with others, or as chill parallel play!

-Lancaster's own FARBO Co provides demo games for folks looking to form connections over dice, cards, roleplay, and anything in-between!

-Not sure what you can bring? Here are some ideas: zine/collage supplies, relatively not-messy art stuff, kandi materials, games, knitting/felting/quilting, yoga mats, etc.

-Simply want to show up? Please do! Bring your Switch, your current crochet project, or word search/sudoku/crossword that's been giving you trouble.

-I will play an eclectic mix of pride hits, dance pop, disco and other upbeat/chill vibes. We'll keep the volume at a level that allows folks to chat, share skills, or vibe! If we want to crank it up as the night goes on, that's also an option. We'll figure it out together!

This is a BYO event, so come with your photo ID and whatever tasty beverages you have in mind. Share or get your personal sip on. We'll have hot water and basic teas on hand for folks lookin' for a hot-up. Guests are also welcome to bring snacks to share; please label ingredients for allergens.

With our monthly Shadowland Lancaster dark dance party coming up, it's worth making sure we’re all on the same page about what you can expect from us, what we can expect from you, and the basics as to how we can approach hard situations together when they arise. Copies of our code of conduct are always posted in the restrooms as well as to the left of the bar.

When in doubt, Bill and Ted had it right: "be excellent to each other". Equity, dignity, and kindness are what make us the fantastic group we are and I am so excited to see y'all at Little Mutants soon!

Everyone’s favorite Haus of Hell mutha’ will be joining us with some HOT GOGO ACTION (!!!) to keep the energy up! Death is but a journey and Vincent is the Prize! Bring those ones, fives, tens, and other bills for him and our bartenders while they keep us movin’ all! night! Long!

Never been to a party with gogo dancers before? Gogo goes all the way back to disco-times (and before) and is an important piece of the nightlife entertainment puzzle; dancers are fun to watch and more fun to be inspired by to get out on the floor! They keep us grooving and groove for us when we take a break. It's an energy intensive role and we encourage you to tip Vincent as you would any other front-of-house member of the service industry! Please treat him with the dignity and respect you do the rest of the Kennel's staff and your fellow partygoers.

Dan and I want to provide an exceptional experience for the performers we book and our audience. This includes a stage and gear that sound awesome, adequate time to promote, and functioning flesh vessels to do the work.

Between imminent upgrades, time constraints re: promotion, health stuff, and three shows’ worth of experience, we agree we need to adjust our business plan and the frequency with which we organize events. To that end, we are cancelling our August and September shows. We apologize for any inconvenience and any tickets already purchased will be refunded.

The factors which influence our decision are primarily good things. Little Mutants/Mutator will be upgrading significant parts of its audio system. This will not only address some technical issues but will improve the quality of sound on both sides of the stage.

Beyond venue upgrades, we are doing most of the “between shows” work ourselves. When it comes to the “day of”, we have an incredible team between Little Mutants, our sound techs Jhed and Andrew, and ourselves. Between shows, it’s just us, and it’s a lot for two people. We’re also both facing health concerns which make it clear how little wiggle room we’re working with on a monthly schedule and how much difference a few days makes in a promotional cycle.

We don’t want things to feel rushed or disorganized. Running ourselves ragged isn’t how we prevent that from happening. Adjusting our frequency is as much a matter of quality control as it is logistics and work/life balance. To help spread the work, Kris is coordinating with a few long-time Shadowland attendees as a “street team” to help spread the word in Lancaster and abroad. This not only helps with delegation but broadens our reach significantly.

We don't make this choice lightly. When we finish implementing our upgrades/revising our approach, we are confident we’ll be in an excellent place to re-book our pals. We will still host our concert/dance party with Assemblage23 on 10/5 and the Devil’s Night show with Tassel and The Russian White on 10/30. If we don’t see you at one of our monthly dance parties before then, we’ll see you in time for spooky season.

This week, there won't be a Shadowland happy hour. Instead, Harrisburg pals Witchitaw are playing an early show Wednesday, 7/25! Doors at 7, band at 8.

I'm stoked to say we've got DJ Raven de la Noir doing q***r joy afterwards, 9PMish-12AM, for RE/POSE! We'll have our weekly drag floorshow with N38U1A and Ate 9-10 and music with Raven after! $8 a the door. Bring your tippin' bills and tippin'... cows? idk.

Hello, SPiLL fam -

Due to some surprise emergency home repairs, we are unable to host this month’s event tonight, 7/15. We are sorry to cancel at all, nonetheless on such short notice. If this were not a “it’s a miracle your house hasn’t burned down in the past six years”kind of thing, we promise we wouldn’t do it.
We will see you in August on Tuesday, 8/20, for our usual third Tuesday SPiLL teatime.
