Across the country, communities continue to navigate sky high housing costs and challenging real estate landscapes.

"Hannah Edwards is on the frontlines of America’s housing crunch in the southernmost reaches of the U.S, and it’s a very tough battle.

Edwards works for Habitat for Humanity in the Florida Keys. The archipelago of small tropical islands offers some of the most expensive and housing constrained communities in the country."

Dana Byrum has seen a lot of changes since she entered the health care field in 1996 — including 23 years as a nurse.

“When I started we didn’t have computers,” said Byrum, who is vice president of patient care services for ECU Health’s hospitals in Bertie and Chowan counties in North Carolina.

But technology is not the only contemporary change facing nursing and health care more broadly.

Many Americans have dim views of the government, news media, big businesses and technology companies, and other institutions ranging from public schools to the criminal justice and health care systems.

That is being magnified by social media and technology, as well as income inequality and social changes, including declines in conventional civic engagements, according to political and media analysts.

Over a four-story series, Adams Publishing will delve into how America's political divides are showing up across the country.

The eclipse will be visible across the continental U.S. with a swath of the country — from Texas to New England — experiencing as much as four minutes of daytime darkness with the moon blocking the sun.

Eclipse day and the weekend leading up to are expected to be one of the busiest travel periods in U.S. history.

That is prompting concerns about traffic congestion, gasoline supplies and how the events and expected high usage rates will
impact internet and other communications connections including electronic transactions and payment systems.

The total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, could be one of the most traveled days in U.S. history. The entire continental U.S. will be able to view the event with parts of 13 states from Texas to Maine able to see the moon completely block out the sun for 3 to 4 minutes.

It will be the second largest total solar eclipse in the U.S. since 1806 All the travel, spending and social media activity could also cause some issues. Destination Mansfield, an Ohio tourism group, has put together a list of eclipse tips in addition to wearing protective eclipse glasses.

Rawlins Middle School (RMS) has been named a model Professional Learning Community (PLC) school by Solution Tree.

Solution Tree is a professional development company and publisher of educational material for K-12 educators.

PLCs are schools and districts where educators “recognize the key to improve learning for students is on-going, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students,” according to a press release from Solution Tree.

RAWLINS — Rawlins Middle School (RMS) has been named a model Professional Learning Community (PLC) school by Solution Tree.

Senate File 32, h**p limitations on psychoactive substances, would wipe out anyone’s ability to sell h**p products containing delta-8, delta-10, HHCo and other products with minimal THC in Wyoming.

Senate File 32 passed its third reading on Thursday, Feb. 22, and has been sent to the Wyoming House of Representatives. From there, it will go to the committee review and floor debate and may be amended. If it passes with no amendments, it is sent to Gov. Mark Gordon for his approval or veto.

“It blows my mind that the legislature isn’t looking at the bigger picture.”

RAWLINS – Independently-owned h**p shops are in jeopardy as the Wyoming Legislature look at strict regulations.

It’s hard to have a happy holiday when you’re arrested for drunk driving. And during the 2017-2021 December months, there were more than 4,500 people killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes.

Don't be part of the problem this weekend. There are plenty of options for impaired drivers to get home safely, including:

- Take public transportation or find someone else to drive you home. Don't risk hurting yourself or others by getting behind the wheel when you've been drinking.

- Use ride-share services like Lyft or Uber instead of driving yourself home after a night out.

And if you see a suspected drunk driver on the road, contact local law enforcement immediately.

RHS Booster Club Board Members, Mindy Monson-Greene, Tara France, Bobbie Maes, Harlee Mascarenas and Denver Allard planned a kick off to homecoming week with a bonfire tailgate/pep rally on Monday, Oct. 2.

The Booster Club had help from RHS Maintenance Crew, John Hilim and Cullen Meeks. The maintenance crew scraped the area for the bon fire added the wood and cleaned it up the next day.

The RFD volunteered their time to start and end the fire as well as make sure the scene remained safe. The RHS Band and Cheerleaders performed to pep up the group and the captains for the football team, volleyball team, and cross country team spoke. The RHS custodians helped to set up and clean up after the festivities ended. There were food and drink vendors as well as apparel and local business vendors.

The turn-out was awesome and the hope is to continue with the tradition next year.
