As I end the era of the She Built This podcast officially, a few folks have asked me why I said anything at all...

Why I didn't just podfade, roll out slow and sneaky, and call it a day.

"Why bother announcing it? No one even had to know... you could've just exited stage left without a peep, Emily!"

For me, the She Built This podcast has always been far more than "just a podcast".

It's been a community-builder, a relationship catalyst, and a powerful tool for connection for myself and others. It's been a launchpad for confidence, creativity, and collaboration. It's been a constant in a world that's ever-shifting and changing.

And so, it's with all the gratitude I say goodbye to the wonderful gift this era has been and make space for the next creation to emerge!

Today is the release of the final She Built This podcast episode!

I shared this episode to say a proper goodbye AND to provide you with some inspiration in case you're ending an era of your own.

Whether you're:

- Letting go of something in your life or business
- Making a shift or pivot in a different direction
- Closing your business or venture entirely
..my hope is that this episode supports you in some way!

Join me in the official send-off of the She Built This podcast as I say my goodbyes and thank you's in this final episode. 😍

Authenticity used to be such a nice word...

It meant something, you know?

Genuine and true blue.

Go ahead and blame marketing or Chat GPT (always safe to blame Chat!), but...

Authenticity has lost some spark as it evolved into less meaning and more of a "strategy" and "tool" for business owners.

In this episode, my guest, Melissa Snow (Powerful Women Rising Community) and I get into the word "Authenticity" and unpack what it really means.

We also couple it with another scary one which goes hand-in-hand with being authentic, "networking".

Don't let the internet buzz ruin these words for you!

In this episode:

> We get into what it means to be authentic
> What authenticity isn't
> How to learn more about the authentic, true blue YOU human inside
> How to network like a human
> What it looks like to infuse intention into what you do and share

Melissa helps make the intangible tangible as she offers practical action steps and a little soul-searching to get you started!

No need for an unpopular opinion warning because... in this episode, my guest Jessica Lackey and I AREN'T just sharing a bunch of unpopular opinions...

We don't kick it off by saying, "I don't know who needs to hear this..." but we DO dive into the world of online business and unpack some of the myths, tricks, blanket advice, and generic business building tips you see flying around on the internet.

Join Jessica and I in this episode, as we strive to debunk myths about online business and more!

What's inside the episode:
- Inbound vs. outbound
- Marketing vs. relationship-building (how even THAT sounds sleazy!)
- Scaling
- The elusive, yet magical seven-figure mark of success
- Is it a niche or is it a pattern?
- Reels - are we doing this? Yay or nay?
- Cultivating a playlist vs. pushing noise into the feed
- Finding communities that are a good fit
- And why Jessica encourages you to rant MORE!

We get into:

- What makes female friendships so unique and different

This month's episode is a bit of a different one!

It’s not a tips, how-to’s, action steps kind of episode, it’s the story. A story of where art meets science and the power of smell to transport us.

Today's episode is featuring Helida Dodd owner of Marbella Perfumes, who loves bringing stories and scents together in a powerful way.

We get into how she started, where the path in the road took her on a totally different journey, and some of the things she has to face and overcome as a product-based, artisan business owner.

Our conversation covers:

> How Helida went from engineering to perfume
> Why smells are so important for connection
> Parallels between storytelling and scents
> Advice for artisans, makers, and product-based businesses to overcome common fears getting in the way of their success

And more!

For all who have a cycle or have someone in their life with a cycle...

This She Built This episode with my special guest, Bri Martinez of Wild Moon Experiences is one you don't want to miss!

Tuning into our cycles and the cycles of the moon/earth can be a source of wisdom that helps us in life and business. When we pay attention to our cycles and seasons, we also develop a deeper relationship with ourselves, others, and the natural world around us.

See who you truly are, disconnect from others while reconnecting with yourself, and gain a deeper level of knowing with this bottom-up approach!

In this episode, Bri and I talk about:

- Approaching your menstrual cycle as a gift rather than a curse

- The different cycles we experience as humans (lunar, seasonal, and menstrual) and how they impact our energy, creativity, and more!

️ - How we can start leaning into these cycles and using their wisdom to help support our businesses and lives

- And more!

The words we use shape our every day, our environment, the people around us, and our world.

Are we using words and phrases in a way that creates the world we want to live in?

Are we using language in a way that allows us to intentionally connect, include, and bring people together?

In this episode, with special guest Emily Nichols, we look at the topic of the many things we say (and phrases we take for granted), and how they can actually work to alienate and separate, rather than unite and include.

In this episode:

🎙️ Emily's story in creating a TedX Talk and what inspired it
🎙️ Why it might not be all it's cracked up to be to be "one of the guys"
🎙️ How to consider new ways to speak that brings people together for more collaboration and connection
🎙️ What to do if you're struggling to get on board with the ever-changing world of the English language
🎙️ How to overcome your fear of making a mistake around saying the right thing
🎙️ The difference between descriptivism and prescriptivism

🎙️ And more!

This is a photo of the first She Built This event in November 2018, when Kristin and I welcomed 150+ women into the room at LaBelle. The photos captured that evening were amazing (thanks to Trayce Gregoire of Trayce Gregoire Photography).

Every time I see them I'm reminded of the FEELING of that evening and what the energy in the room was.

I wanted to recreate this on a smaller scale (don't worry, we'll be having another large SBT event soon) and give YOU photos that show off what it's like to hang with you!

What better way to do that than with a headshot party where you can be seen and get visible in what you're building.

We have TWO opportunities for you to join us in getting new headshots, images of you working with a group, and having a great day of networking and making new connections!

Thursday, June 24th in Peterborough, NH - Lisa Arnold of Lisa Arnold Photography will be photographing us in the quaint and adorable Peterborough, NH and Friday, July 23rd in Portsmouth - Trayce Gregoire and the SBT ladies will be taking it to the seacoast!

Learn more and sign up for one (or both) at the link below! Hurry! Spots are going quick and the deadline for Peterborough's is MONDAY, June 21st!

I often sit on ideas for awhile before implementing...

But this one, I decided to just jump in on, like I did the Atlantic Ocean last weekend even though no one else on the beach found it warm enough to swim! 🤣

This episode is a never-before-tried-by-me activity based on the question I heard in Oprah's Super Soul podcast (The Give),

"What is the energy you choose to bring to the world?"

“Life can be measured in exchanges of energy - positive or negative, what is the energy you choose to bring to the world? Positive exchanges multiply and grow which is why giving feels so good.” - Oprah

The legacy I want to leave and the energy I want to bring is one of LOVE, lifting others up, showing them that they can do it!

This episode is one part me living that legacy out, and one part YOU thinking about yours.

This episode comes with a She Built This community activity so PLEASE join me by listening, and then going into the She Built This group, and participating in the fun!!!

Remember in Reader's Digest how they used to have a section called, "Laughter is the Best Medicine" full of little quips and short jokes?

I LOVED that section growing up and it always had me cracking up!

Well guess what? Laughter is STILL the best medicine!

In today's episode of the She Built This podcast, Pasha Marlowe and I chat about the ins and outs of laughter and how it can help bring more joy and enjoyment in your life.

Enjoy!

11/02/2021

The morning of July 4th, 2018 began like any other in Sadie Raymond's household. What Sadie and her family didn't know, however, was that by the end of the day the course of all of their lives, especially that of their teenage
son, Corbin would change forever.

After receiving a phone call that chilled her to the bone, Sadie rushed to the scene of a car accident alongside a forested road in their home state of New Hampshire.

There, she discovered that her son had been a passenger in a car that had collided with a tree and was on his way to the hospital via ambulance.

For 121 days, Corbin fought an arduous battle for his life in the Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children's Hospital and at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. New Englanders from across his home state and beyond declared themselves Corbin Strong. His family and friends found their strength and resilience in the face of adversity. And, through faith and love against all odds, Corbin won.

In this collaborative episode of She Built This, you will meet Naughty Good Bites Woman of the month, Sadie Raymond, who teaches us the power of being THANKFUL in all things and what that means to her.

Sadie Raymond is a single mother of four children: Corbin, Grace, Cohen, and Grayson. A lifelong resident of Boscawen, NH, Sadie is a graduate of Merrimack Valley High School and New Hampshire Technical Institute. Her greatest joy in life is being a mother.

Hi! Happy Friday!

This morning I posted something to my personal Instagram only to discover twenty minutes that I had made a typo, rendering it completely nonsensical. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sometimes our typos are just downright funny, but sometimes they are serious and costly.

In my first business, a small typo (think changing an S to an M) changed someone's entire non-returnable $3000 order, so I spent half my life doing my work, a quarter of it double-checking my work, and a quarter of it, having it double-checked by my husband.

Sometimes, even with the best preventative measures in place, mistakes happen!

No matter how great or small the mistake is that you make, you have the power to turn it into MOTION.

You can turn it into:

-Better next time
-Slower next time
-Kinder next time
-Gentler next time
-Friendlier next time
-Less-expensive next time
-More clear next time

I had a fun chat with some members of She Built This over on Ye Olde Clubhouse this afternoon, sharing about our professional blooper reels. We laughed at the mistakes we made in our businesses and what our takeaways were.

My personal favorite from JoAnn Krall - The Sensible Organizer "Never ask someone what 'this' is in their bedroom when you're a professional organizer" 🤣.

We all shared about times that we forgot to cross our t's and dot our i's and what it cost us.

Every mistake you make, every failure, can move you in the direction you want to be going.

And sometimes, they just provide a really good laugh, which is also movement for your abs.

Because we should all stop taking ourselves so damn seriously anyway. :)

Today’s She Built This podcast episode is a short and sweet and a little anecdote about my niece Annabel and the lesson I took away from it.

I have shared with you my holiday tradition of making Macaroons for the family and then bringing them to Christmas. This year, because we didn’t go visit our family in person, I made macaroons for everyone and shipped them with their presents.

A couple of weeks ago, my niece, Annabel, told her mom she wanted to FaceTime with me and when she got me on the phone she said, “Auntie Emily, I really liked those chocolate biscuits. Can we have some more?”

What did this simple request teach me? What can it teach YOU about sharing your voice and stepping up to ask for what you want and need?

Find out in today's podcast!
