It's that minute when your partner and inspiration in all the ways - David P Weber - has done something pretty incredible, as part of a Designing Duo with his equally incredible sister Dreya Weber and that pretty incredible thing ended up premiering on a stage in London this week, carrying a beast of a rock star - P!nk -through the air as she sang and pirouetted ferociously to Dreya's choreography, and you're blown away by the beautiful ex*****on of an idea sparked by a wire child's toy, brought into artform by two visionary minds, and now appearing in enormous arenas in Europe and Ireland/UK, built entirely in your barn. On a remote hilltop. In Indiana. It's called The Webersphere, and you're not going to lie: you're feeling a little like a teenaged girl watching the Beatles at Wembley stadium circa 1965 every time you play the clip. It's that fangirl minute!

On this June 19th, Juneteenth, we're reading the poems of Phillis Wheatley - an enslaved child, who, by age 13 had published her first poem, and became one of the best known poets in pre-19th century America. At a time when the works of women were generally ignored, she was lauded internationally, and her achievements helped catalyze the anti-slavery movement. Because of her position and renown, she was treated as a symbol by an array of politicians and social agendas - commodified in too many respects - and despite her genius, acclaim, and role in forcing the US to reconcile the unconscionable injustice of slavery, she died at 31 in severe poverty. She is unsung, and deserves so much better. Her incredible poems deserve to be heard everywhere.

This not-quite-local sweetheart has been recording music at Airtime Studios since she was fifteen, and has returned to town for an Artist Residency at the Hill as she tours from NM to NYC with her new record, Scorpio Ballads. Hundredth Hill Urban Painters Residency Alum Samuel Peñaloza @ I Creations will be closing out his group show RECORDANDO with a reception at The FAR Center for Contemporary Arts this Friday!

Peñaloza’s upbringing in the Nickerson Gardens Nickerson Gardens surrounded him with the radical, community rooted art form of graffiti. His work speaks in a language of symbols, with the eyes of his distorted portraiture pouring out complex emotions that are hard to pin down in words. Come catch a glimpse this Friday before it’s gone 🎨
