Be safe! Let’s see those giant red snapper pics!

Red Snapper season is only one day this year! 🎣 Make the most of it and be safe out there! Here's a few safety tips we recommend before heading out tomorrow!

● Make sure you have a working VHF on board! You can do a radio check on VHF 09 with the bridges!

● Check all your safety gear (lifejackets, EPIRB, PLB, ect) to make sure they're in good order in case of emergency.

● Check your fuel tank and make sure you'll have enough to get where you're going and back with enough reserve in the tank for safety factor!

● Establish a float plan with someone on shore! Make sure they know an estimated time you'll return and keep in touch with them regularly!

● Designate a Sober Skipper! Drinking alcohol is the leading contributing factor in fatal boating accidents every year!

● The weather can change quickly! Keep an eye on the radar and plan accordingly!

The U.S. Navy has brought more than 50 sailors to Volusia County for Navy Week. Eight of the Navy’s finest kicked off the week by visiting the Marine Science Center, where they helped staff clean the stingray touch pool.

Navy Weeks are the service’s signature outreach program, designed to allow the citizens of the Daytona Beach area to learn about the Navy, its people, and its importance to national security and prosperity. The Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) coordinates Navy Weeks.
