HELLo FiEnDs ... Happy Halloween to one and all!! Way back on Halloween 2009, I started this little radio show. It started as a Sunday night show, then two years later, in 2011, it changed to the current nightly show format. There have been listener polls that let you rank your favorite bands (before every station had one). I did some live on-location broadcasts that were great fun (I hope to resume this in 2024), and some other ideas that did not pan out. A few years into the show, there were more shows popping up daily, and I had to do something different to stand out in the crowd. That was when I added the golden age of radio horror and science fiction. That morphed into acquiring some of the more current stuff. Enough about me!! Now, I want to thank all of the great bands that have been the real stars of the show!! I have always approached radio like this. The DJ is not the star, it is the music!! I really dig what the bands have created among themselves, a very supportive music community that has spread across the globe!! That was one of my goals for the graveyard, create a place for talent to network with others like themselves. You did this!! So once again, I want to thank all of the bands for keeping great music alive and well!! Then finally, to all of my FiEnDs out there ... you all know who you are!! Thank you for everything. You all have encouraged me, supported me, and, at times even prodded me. You all are true friends, and I want to thank each and every one of you!! Thank you!! One of the reasons I really dig this version is how they stuck to the original script and adapted it to the current technologies that were available at that time. Except everyone dies!! "Dreams in the Witch House" is a horror short story by American writer H. P. Lovecraft, part of the Cthulhu Mythos cycle. It was written in January/February 1932 and first published in the July 1933 issue of Weird Tales. The story follows Walter Gilman, a student of mathematics and folklore at Miskatonic University, who rents an attic room in the "Witch House", a house in Arkham, Massachusetts, that is rumored to be cursed. The house once harbored Keziah Mason, an accused witch who disappeared mysteriously from a Salem jail in 1692. It was then, that the dreams started ... Tune in for one hell of a creepy story!! HELLo FiEnDs ... Tonight, The Scream-a Palooza continues with a story of a brain, "Donovan's Brain." Donovan's Brain is a 1942 science fiction novel by American writer Curt Siodmak. The novel is written in the form of diary entries by Dr. Patrick Cory, a middle-aged physician whose experiments at keeping a brain alive are subsidized by Cory's wealthy wife. Under investigation for tax evasion and criminal financial activities, millionaire megalomaniac W.H. Donovan crashes his private plane in the desert near the home of Dr. Cory. The physician is unable to save Donovan's life, but removes his brain on the chance that it might survive, placing the gray matter in an electrically charged, oxygenated saline solution within a glass tank. The brainwaves indicate that thought – and life – continue. Cory makes several futile attempts to communicate with it. Finally, one night Cory receives unconscious commands, jotting down a list of names in a handwriting not his own – it is Donovan's. Cory successfully attempts telepathic contact with Donovan's brain ... I am sure nothing bad will come of that!! Hahaha. The novel was an instant success and has been adapted to film three times. Since then, the book has become something of a cult classic, with fans including Stephen King, who discussed the novel in his 1981 book Danse Macabre and mentions it in his novel/miniseries It. Siodmak wrote a sequel in 1968 titled Hauser's Memory and a final sequel in 1991 titled Gabriel's Body. So do your brain a favor and tune in tonight!!
