Faith Valasek was one of three people attacked just before 6 p.m. on Halloween night in Tarentum.

“I love dogs," she says. "I started to say hello to them and went to tap the puppy on the head. Before I knew it, the adult pit bull was lunging at me.”

Valasek was in good spirits Saturday but still nursing puncture wounds to both forearms. She says she's getting rabies shots because the dogs were not vaccinated.

The harrowing experience has left her reeling.

A man was rescued Saturday after a medical emergency left him stranded in a 30-foot-deep ravine in Harrison. Emergency crews responded to the call for a man stuck about 200 yards in the woods.

Harrison Hills Volunteer Fire Company's Mike Hunter said the terrain was so steep that it made for a delicate rescue.

Calls from Allegheny County dispatchers requested “lots of rope and lots of manpower.”
