Another item popped up tonight, this one in my Facebook feed: many of you know that I'm a huge fan of Bela Lugosi. I met his son, Bela G. Lugosi, at the Stooges confab in 1995.

This popped up in my cyber wanderings tonight...from many, many moons ago(35 years, to be exact): David "Curly" Knight and me as "Moe", hanging out with Three Stooges supporting actor Harold Brauer at the Stooges Fan Club Convention in Philadelphia, back in 1989. Photo courtesy of threestooges.net . The best part about those meetings were the people, and, since we impersonated, we got to visit with many Stooges co-stars. What stories! What wonderful, down-to-earth folks!

He caught a lot of good-natured grief as "Bing's little brother", but BOB CROSBY, pictured here in his WW2 USMC uniform, alongside civvie Bing, was a pretty good singer in his own right, and fronted a doggone good Dixieland-flavored big band. For "Orchestra on the Bandstand" this week, we're going to play selections from a new(well, to us) compilation of, not necessarily big hits, but bigtime-enjoyable recordings of Bob's orchestra, many of which were composed by his bassist, Bob Haggart.

AHH-HAAAAA!!! BOB WILLS and His Texas Playboys get our mini-feature this week, leading off each hour of "Jukebox" with some of their most bigbandiest sounding numbers(y'know, Bob thought of his band as a jazz group!). And, yours truly is gonna go ape, and play SIX Bob Wills platters on this week's show! Yes, I like Western Swing! And, I like GLENN MILLER, too! He's got a pair of his big hits scheduled. Plus, FOUR requests for last week's "Orchestra on The Bandstand", LES BROWN! I'm really looking forward to this 'un!
