"I got burned out so I bought a restoration company."
I sat down with my man Mark Anderson and we had a great conversation. Mark has had a super interesting path. He's worked in advertising for some huge companies, won a Food Network challenge show hosted by Guy Fieri and promptly did two seasons of Grill Dads. Then he did what any of you would've done. He bought a restoration company in Boise Idaho.

What if?
This snippet is concentrated with a number of important thoughts. First of all- one of the best questions a business owner can ask is "What if?". What a great question. It is positive, it invokes creative thought and untapped potential. Put it in your regular rotation of questions.
Secondly, Andrew Randall talks about the power of building a solid trustworthy network of professionals who know how to do things better than you. To help you reach this potential, many times you need help.
Sunday’s are for good coffee and good podcasts. Check this snippet of conversation between me and George Seybold. He goes into detail about his new business Talloo and how it helps business professionals really connect. Find our entire conversation on the None of my Business podcast.
I think good customer service should be on the endangered species list.
I am obsessed with great customer service. Honestly, I think it should be listed as an endangered species because it is so hard to find. I had a great chat with Bruce and Laura Delaney who own Rediscovered Books about this topic and they offered some really nice insight.

"Even my mom thinks we're crazy"
This is a great clip from my interview with Rosie Weems and Mike Weems who own Calle 75 Street Tacos. They wanted to do something really special for their menu. I mean, how do you differentiate yourself from your competition when your not the only Taco game in town? How about using a centuries-old method of making tortillas that no else does? I mean, NO ONE.
Why doesn't anyone else do it? Because there is a way to do it in the modern world that shaves off 98% of the time. Mike and Rosie didn't care. They wanted to keep the craft alive and honor it from the days of their ancestors. So they figured it out.

Here is a great 60 seconds of my interview with Jasson Parra who owns the Lemon Tree and Co. restaurant in Boise. Jasson talks about how he got the first job he really wanted. It shows that he was hardwired to go after what he really wanted. Don't see too much of this in the work force these days. Thanks for coming on Jasson! #entrepreneurmindset #hardworkpaysoff #boiseidaho #podcasting #podcasts #thisisboise #idahobusiness
This was part of my conversation with Connie Miller, CEO of ICON Credit Union. We talk about one of my favorite questions that entrepreneurs should regularly ask themselves. "What's the worst that can happen?"
Don't be afraid to reach out to giants in your industry for advice.
I had Matt Pipkin on the show recently. He told me a great story from when he first started his non profit, Speak your Silence, that he wanted to reach out to others who had done it before. So he did what any of us would've done, and called the CEO of the Susan G. Koman foundation for advice on what to do. Let's just say, it worked out for him. He wound up connecting with their Global President and she would up being a huge asset to him and eventually became his mentor. Lesson- Just ask.
