You have to believe
It happened to me
It can happen to you

Every action has a reaction. Every cause has an effect.
This is the common way we understand the world to work, each phenomenon unfolding in perfect balance, creative and destructive, good vs bad, positive vs negative. That unyielding force of Karma holding everything in perfect harmony.
At least that’s what we’d prefer to believe .
But we know as time passes and we undergo the journey, travel each road, show up in each moment, it’s not always so simple. That balance isn’t so easy to recognize. That’s because it’s simply not true. Not inherently at least.
Karma doesn’t mean that everything is responded to in kind. It’s not some universal agent of recompense it’s commonly believed to be. Rather than maintaining a perfect system of “what goes around comes around” what it actually means is simply that everything is the result of something. It’s not a bounce back but more like a fluid ripple effect, an immensely complex, yet surprisingly straightforward, system of happening.
Things happen, other things happen as a result. Balance is not promised. But it can be achieved, through reflection. Harmony, peace, tranquility…are not some inherent part of the system, they must be achieved, the endgame of experiencing their perceived equal and opposite - discord, struggle, chaos.
Balance, calmness, stillness…whatever you want to call it, is not a passive process, it’s an incredibly active one, that requires strength, focus, determination. And the only way to experience it is through a necessary process of unfolding it takes to get there.
