The North Alabama War Dawgs, founded in 2019, have quickly become a beloved fixture in the Huntsville community and beyond. Competing in the American Basketball Association (ABA), the team has garnered a reputation for excellence, making playoff appearances in four of the last five seasons and producing 12 ABA All-Stars.

From the outset, the War Dawgs were committed to being more than just a basketball team. Timothy Jones strategically chose Huntsville for its vibrant community and supportive environment. His vision was to create a team that not only excelled on the court but also played an integral role in the community. This is evident in their involvement in local events, such as the Fast Break Camp at Lakewood Gymnasium and the Zumba event supporting breast cancer research (War Dawgs Basketball) (War Dawgs Basketball) (The Madison Record).

Home games were held at the James Clemens High School, where fans experienced the electrifying atmosphere the War Dawgs are known for.
The team ensures that each game is a family-friendly event, with activities and entertainment that engage fans of all ages. The Diva Dawgs, the team's dance squad, add to the excitement with dynamic performances that pump up the crowd (Rocket City Mom) (Hville Blast).

WHO ARE WE?

The War Dawgs' commitment to their fans extends beyond game day. They are active on social media, engaging with a growing audience. This broad reach not only boosts the team's visibility but also helps promote their sponsors and partners (War Dawgs Basketball) (Rocket City Mom).

The North Alabama War Dawgs' story is one of community, excellence, and growth. Their rapid rise in the ABA and strong community ties make them a standout team, both on and off the court. If you have a performing arts organization, initiative, etc. and would like to be considered for free exhibit space at the upcoming Jazz in the Park- Huntsville concert series, please complete the form below.

Jazz in the Park- Huntsville (JITPH) has become one of the hottest summer concert series in Huntsville-Madison County. JITPH began as a collaboration between the City of Huntsville Office of Multicultural Affairs (now Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and Magic City Smooth Jaz (MCSJ), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting free concerts and cultural activities under the leadership of the late Executive Director Bernard Lockhart. JITPH began in 2015 as a spinoff of the popular Jazz in the Park summer series hosted by MCSJ in Birmingham and other selected cities. Jazz in the Park- Huntsville is held every Sunday in September from 5-9 pm in Big Spring Park East, and the concerts are free to the public. Since its inception, we’ve hosted 26 concerts featuring 66 artists (including local, national and international recording and Grammy award winning and nominated artists) reaching a diverse crowd of about 6000+ people per concert.

The 2024 series will kick off on Sunday, September 1, 2024 in Big Spring Park, followed by concerts on September 2, 8, 15 and 22. We will once again look forward to partnering with Huntsville City Schools on providing free music education masterclasses by some of our opening and headline performers. We are continuing to provide high quality, free concerts to the community.

Each year we invite organizations that offer performing arts programs and initiatives to join us as exhibitors at no cost. The volume of attendees makes this a great place to share information about your business and services to the community. You would need to provide your own setup, including tent (optional), table, chairs, materials, etc. There is limited electricity. This is a non-sales event. If you are interested, please complete this form ASAP.

Thank you very much for your consideration! I look forward to hearing from you soon.

My next 'First Wednesday' free professional development seminar, 'Why Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Matter, is scheduled for August 7, 2023 at Bryant Bank's 4th floor Community Room from 11:30 am- 1:00 pm.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are not just buzz words. They are at the core of our ability to connect and thrive as one human family. Cultural competence is achieved when the policies and practices of an organization, or the values and behaviors of an individual, that foster effective cross cultural communication. A cultural organization values the people who work there, understands the community in which it operates, and embraces its clients as valuable members of that community. This means that the culture of the organization promotes inclusiveness and institutionalizes the process of learning about differences. This seminar will provide perspective for understanding the relevance of diversity, equity and inclusion and offer guidelines for achieving these objectives in healthy ways that demonstrate respect for all people.
