As the calendar year ends, especially when we are entering into the month of December, we begin to see Christmas decorations everywhere. Plans are made to visit families, gifts and cards are exchanged, stores show off their best decorations, Christmas music is heard all around, television networks show movies appealing to all tastes, and advertising companies create Christmas commercials to sell their holiday goods. Excited children await the arrival of the baby Jesus, the three Wise Men, or Santa Claus. All these things create an environment to indicate something great and very important is about to happen, yes, the birth of the God child, Jesus.

But what does Christmas really mean?
Christmas is the beginning of the fulfillment of the Father's promise and the prophecies written throughout the Old Testament, it is the end of one cycle of history and the beginning of another. It is leaving behind an old world and beginning to discover a new one. It is the birth of a new humanity, the beginning of the full manifestation of God's love and mercy for our human nature. Yes, this is really Christmas, God who freely, out of love and mercy, decided to strip himself of his Divine rank, without renouncing it, to assume our humanity in the purest womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary, from whom He directly receives our human nature in the moment of conception, when the Virgin says the phrase: Let it be done (Luke 1:38).

In this admirable and at the same time so humble and simple way, God becomes part of our time, space, and history. The madness of God's love is present in the union of Divine Nature with our human nature, thus giving birth to a new humanity; a humanity that begins the transforming metamorphic path of itself, a human nature that begins its process of perfection and glorification, an uncreated human nature that renews the entire Creation; that is the true and glorious meaning of Christmas; It is the living and active hope that directs us to perfect and eternal happiness; It is the presence of the Messiah, of Emmanuel, of God with, through and among us.

God has deigned to choose us, from among all Creation, to unite his transforming Divinity to us, to each human being, regardless of race, creed, social position, color, gender, etc.
As God assumes our human nature, the entire Creation now prostrates itself to contemplate the most beautiful, greatest, and unsurpassable act of love that God has manifested in his Being itself, to a work of his; you and me: THANK GOD, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

No matter how much we investigate, no matter how capable and studied we are, we will never be able to exhaust or explain this work that God has done at Christmas. We must rejoice greatly; we must bend our knees and fall prostrate in thanksgiving for such a great treasure that God has given us. If humanity could understand, even a little, what this event really means; all pain would end, even if we have suffered through it; peace and unity would reign; true joy and perpetual joy would begin within each human being, consummating in our definitive encounter with the Heavenly Father.

How much admiration and joy I feel when I understand that all those who have gone ahead of us on the definitive journey joyfully contemplate this very special moment of Christmas. I beg them to intercede for each human being, so that we can understand, even a little, so much love and tenderness poured out on this child from Bethlehem; and whom our lady of Guadalupe brought to us in her womb to all of America; so that from the little hill of Tepeyac, a child God with our own mestizo and Latin physiognomy may illuminate the Universal Church and humanity of all times.

Thank you, God, because through the Emmanuel, you show us your love, especially to the poor, the marginalized, the suffering, the migrants, the humble and simple; in whom, together with the child God, the light of hope shines, Amen.

Al ir finalizando el año civil, sobre todo entrando el mes de diciembre, comenzamos a ver todos los adornos navideños. Se hacen planes para visitar a las familias, hay intercambios de regalos y tarjetas, las tiendas lucen sus mejores decoraciones, la música navideña se escucha casi en todos los lugares, las cadenas de televisión proyectan sus comerciales alusivos a la Navidad, y las compañías de películas ponen a disposición su mejor variedad para todos los gustos. Los niños ilusionados esperan la llegada del niño Dios, los reyes magos o a Santa Claus. Todo este ambiente es para darnos a conocer que algo grandioso y muy importante está por pasar, sí, el nacimiento del niño Dios.

Pero ¿Qué significa realmente Navidad?
Navidad es el inicio del cumplimiento de la promesa del Padre y las profecías escritas en todo el Antiguo Testamento, es el término de un ciclo de la Historia y el Inicio de otro, es dejar atrás un viejo mundo y comenzar a descubrir uno nuevo, es el nacimiento de una nueva humanidad, es el comienzo de la manifestación plena del amor y misericordia de Dios por nuestra naturaleza humana. Sí, esto es realmente navidad, Dios que libremente, por amor y misericordia, decide despojarse de su rango Divino, sin renunciar a él, para asumir nuestra humanidad en el vientre purísimo de la Santísima Virgen María, de quien recibe directamente nuestra naturaleza humana en el momento de la concepción, cuando la Virgen dice la frase: Hágase (Lc. 1,38).

De esta forma tan admirable y al mismo tiempo tan humilde y sencilla, Dios entra a formar parte de nuestro tiempo, espacio e historia. La locura del amor de Dios está presente en la unión de la Naturaleza Divina con nuestra naturaleza humana, dando a luz de esta forma a una nueva humanidad; una humanidad que inicia el camino metamorfósico transformador de ella misma, una naturaleza humana que da comienzo a su proceso de perfección y glorificación, una humanidad increada que renueva la Creación entera; esa es la verdadera y grandiosa navidad; es la esperanza viva y activa que nos encamina a la felicidad perfecta y eterna; es la presencia del Mesías, del Emmanuel, del Dios con, por y entre nosotros.

Dios se ha dignado a escogernos, de entre toda la Creación, para unir su Divinidad transformadora a nosotros, a cada ser humano; sin importar raza, credo, posición social, color, género, religión, etc.

Al asumir Dios nuestra naturaleza humana, la Creación completa se postra ahora para contemplar el acto más hermoso, más grandioso e insuperable de amor que Dios ha manifestado en su Ser en sí, a una obra suya; tú y yo: GRACIAS DIOS, MUCHAS GRACIAS.

Por mucho que indaguemos, por muy capaces y estudiados que seamos, nunca lograremos agotar ni poder explicar esta obra que Dios ha realizado en Navidad. Hay que regocijarnos grandemente, hay que doblar nuestras rodillas y caer postrados en acción de gracias por tan gran tesoro que Dios nos ha dado. Si la humanidad lograra comprender, aunque fuera un poquito, lo que significa realmente este acontecimiento; se terminaría todo dolor, aun padeciéndolo; reinaría la paz, la unidad; daría comienzo dentro de cada ser humano el verdadero gozo y la alegría perpetua, consumándose en nuestro encuentro definitivo con el Padre Celestial.

Cuanta admiración y alegría siento al comprender que todos aquellos que se nos han adelantado en el viaje definitivo, contemplan gozosos este momento tan especial de navidad, a ellos les ruego que intercedan por cada ser humano, para que podamos comprender, aunque sea un poco, tanto amor y ternura derramada en este niño de Belén; y a quien nuestra señora de Guadalupe, nos lo trajo en sus entrañas a toda América; para que desde el cerrito del Tepeyac, ilumine la Iglesia Universal y a la humanidad de todos los tiempos, un niño Dios con nuestra propia fisonomía mestiza y Latina.

Gracias Dios, porque a través del Emmanuel nos manifiestas tu amor, especialmente a los pobres, los marginados, los que sufren, los migrantes, los humildes y sencillos; en quienes, junto al niño Dios, brilla la luz de la esperanza, Amen.
