We all have contacts in our phone and on our social media accounts that carry the potential to be valuable in our professional lives, but they can easily slip away if we only reach out when we need something or come off across as inauthentic.

So how can attorneys effectively deepen their relationships with industry contacts and strengthen their business opportunities?

Just like everything else—with AI, of course!

On this week's episode of Legal Toolkit, Jared talks with Jody Glidden, the founder of Introhive, about what successful networking actually looks like and the common mistakes people make after making a connection.

Plus, he gives an inside look at the exciting new AI-fueled software that helps attorneys with front-office tech geared toward nurturing your network!

On November 20, 1999, Angela Garcia’s home caught on fire. After crawling in the dark, she was not able to find her children before the blaze forced her to jump out of a second floor window.

She ran to get help but tragically her two daughters would die before anyone could reach them. The State wrongfully accused and convicted her for arson and murdering her family.

After nearly 20 years in prison, the prosecution’s case began to fall apart for lack of evidence. A “dark plea” was offered to Angela in May of 2016. If she accepted, she would be released from incarceration in 5 years. But there was a catch: she would have to admit to guilt. What would you do?

"Civility should be our favorite word. It's one of the benchmarks and the cornerstones of the practice of law. When we are trying to develop law students into lawyers, civility is one of the main things that a number of law schools are focusing on to make sure that we're producing lawyers who are going to be treating others right. And it makes the justice system more efficient. It makes lawyers' lives better when you're dealing with some obstreperous jerk on the other side."
- University of St. Thomas School of Law Professor David Grenardo
