This episode was recorded at the 2024 Prix de West exhibition at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In a Master Painters of the World demo this month, watercolorist Anastasia Petryaeva shares her experience and knowledge which explain how this work “Treasures of the underwater world”, watercolor on paper, 16 x 14" is such a real treasure to understand. She says, “This piece is the second in my Transparency series, and in it I continue to explore the beauty of water refraction and distortion. In this work I wanted to show that the surface of the water, which reflects the sky, hides a whole underwater world full of treasures. We just need to look deeper and we will touch this amazing world, and maybe we will learn the secrets of water.”

And with pastel touches of light and shadow, the colors seemed to flow naturally with what I was observing. I liked the addition of a saddle and blanket. He seemed content, and I needed to immortalize his moment. His image and spirit will remain with us.”
