EXCITING NEWS:

Sent on behalf of Ian David Coleman, Chair, Department of Performing Arts

Dear College Campus Community,

Some of you will already be aware of this, but for those who are not, we’d like to share some exciting news. For years now the Department of Music and the Theatre and Dance Program have worked closely together to build a strong arts presence both on campus and in the wider Kansas City area. This year we are pleased to announce that we have officially joined forces to create the Department of Performing Arts. This will enable us to communicate more easily with each other as we continue to collaborate and offer great performing arts experiences on campus and in the region. With the new Artist Diploma in Voice, we will be able to bring even more dynamic and engaging experiences in opera and musical theatre as well as continuing our already strong choral, instrumental, and theatre traditions.

The coming year will afford us, as a community, some wonderful opportunities to experience live performances once again. We want to invite you all to come join us throughout the year to hear, see, and feel the energy and excitement of in-person performances in a wide variety of locations and venues. It’s going to be an exciting and energetic year!

Best,
The Department of Performing Arts
