Morgan Lynch was never actually going to open a bookstore. She and her husband joked about it for years. They weren't serious — at first.

You can tell a lot about someone by their Instagram page. Some users post uninspiring photo dumps every month just to clear out their camera rolls (guilty!), but others are masters at the craft, curating the most beautiful feed you’ve ever scrolled through. If you’re aspiring to get to that level, head to the Captured by Love Selfie Museum pop-up.

When sports fans look back on the most memorable players to suit up for their favorite teams, the athletes in question often fall into one of two categories: the stars and the characters.

For Gonzaga basketball fans, Robert Sacre was the rare ultra-memorable player who managed to be a star and a top-tier character. And the fan favorite is still involved in the Spokane basketball scene — now as the head coach for the North Central High boys basketball team.

Spokane's Community Court has been nationally recognized by the Center for Justice Innovation as a "mentor" community court — an example to other similar courts due to its unique setting and artful balance of care and accountability.

Here's what it's like navigating Spokane's Community Court as it tries to combat crime and homelessness to improve everyone's quality of life.

A chalkboard in the front of the courtroom has a handwritten message on it. "One step in the right direction: Being HERE." There are plenty...

Last year, city voters passed a 0.1% sales tax increase to fund new community safety initiatives. Mayor Lisa Brown's administration planned for about $2 million of that new revenue stream over the next two years to be designated to Spokane Municipal Court to fund case management and electronic home monitoring.

Those services are part of the Community Justice Services department within the court.

The complex, intensive case management that Community Justice Services provides takes plenty of employees. In October 2024, 11 of the most recently hired employees received potential layoff notices, as part of the 29 notices the mayor sent out prior to the citywide vote on the sales tax. After the sales tax passed, most of those layoff notices were rescinded.

The 5th Annual Celebrate EveryBODY Screendance Festival tries to dive deep into the essence of humanity through eight to 10 short dance films from around the world and the Gonzaga community.

Black gospel music (and its influence on rock and roll) changed the landscape, but straight Christian pop didn’t fully arrive on the national stage until Amy Grant’s breakout in the 1980s. The ever prolific chart-topper returns to Spokane to continue giving (and getting) praise.

Amy Grant Apart from religious-centered Christmas tunes, Christian music was largely relegated to churches for millennia. Those who receive federal grants or loans were sent scrambling last week after the Trump administration issued a memo attempting to temporarily pause all such funding on Monday night, Jan. 27.

Spokane nonprofit law firm The Way to Justice, led by and for people of color, was immediately concerned for its clients, many of whom receive help obtaining food assistance or affordable housing, in addition to legal aid.
