Annoying Humming Noise in Randolph,

Since September there has a been a low frequency noise/vibration on Misty Mountain road and surrounding neighborhood - like an overhead plane or distant truck , but lower frequency and pulsing - comes and goes but most often worse at night starting around 730-9PM through morning

Hearing was checked and meets standards (though they do not test for exceptional or low frequency ability) Not tinnitus

Causing anxiety, stress, sleeplessness and headaches
Most people cannot hear it but recently we have learned that some others around Shongum Lake can now hear it and are suffering like us.

We are using a software program REW and microphone to track. 10 to 40 Hz frequency with a 5 to 15 db difference but have not been able to find the source. We checked with PSE&G, JCP&L, checked water lines. We had JCP&L cut the power to our house but it was still there.

We are now thinking it might be an RF signal from a cell tower that perhaps got upgraded or had its power increased (Shongum Lake area was notorious for low signal strength.

Response from the town health department has been very disappointing. (If it cannot be heard by all, then there is no statute to enforce) - not bothering to come to the house to listen or suggest any contacts to call or equipment. Getting responses has been slow and required follow up (in person).

So today I emailed the whole council as well as the town manager and we'll be going to the council meeting 5/9 6PM to reiterate the problem and ask for some real effort to investigate this issue.

Plenty of towns have had small environmental issues only noticed by a few that eventually became a crisis because they were ignored.

If you are also hearing / feeling this noise, please comment, let us know where in town you are, when it started and please join us at the council meeting Thursday 5/9 or Dept of Health 5/17 7pm

Thank you.

Hello Clear the Decks! fans and followers, been a hectic few weeks between Line of Battle and finishing touches on Who Knew? but both are either ordered or getting ordered for PAX.
Due to wanting to have LoB on hand for PAX I am just doing a small production run which also means Kickstarter is not really economical, so I will just make a page on my website, make a intro video and post here and on the site, then send out a email blast with the link.
People can pre-order the game and a mini expansion and get the promo cards with it.
Who Knew? should also be available at PAX, also in a limited test run in advance of a Kickstarter campaign in early 2024.

Had fun at Captain Con this past weekend - pretty solid stream of players for most of the time I was there and healthy sales of both the base game and expansions. Nice when previous customers walk up and just say - "You have an expansion - let me have it!"

Spoiler alert - I am please to announce that I expect to be at PAX EAST this year (for my first time).
I will give more details when arrangements are finalized.

You can also catch me at LI Tabletop March 18-19

In other news I had two good playtest sessions for the two competitive versions of Clear the Decks! in development. A few card and rules clarifications and tweaks but general play flows as intended

Anwar is already hard at work with sketches for them.

Crispy Games on the Road!
During a business trip I was able to accept an invitation to visit Wicked Gaming Center at 70 Hancok Road, Peterborough NH 03458.
Gayle and Brennan and I chatted about game development, local game stores, distributors and I got to see their lovely newly-renovated gaming space. (Thankfully it has hardwood floors, otherwise the soda I knocked over would have been tough to clean up!).
I ran a demo of a simple 3-stack, 3 player game and we managed to win without too much damage. They both enjoyed the game and made a purchase for the store shelf - so Clear the Decks! has another retailer on its list - huzzah! I also donated a set of base game, mats and the two current expansions for their library.

So - if you are local and want to try out the game or expansions first hand - drop them an email and swing by.

Vendor Spotlight: Crispy Games Co

Crispy Games Company's flagship game is Clear the Decks! a 1-4 player solo-cooperative naval combat game set in the age of sail. Players are all on one ship and each commands three cannons used to attack and sink an enemy ship. For Fall 2022 they will release another expansion "Sailors and Scoundrels" and customized dice to add more variety and chaos to the game.

Drop by their booth at the show to check out the game (it's a lot of fun as we played it Saturday night at CaptainCon 2022) or visit their website to learn more: http://www.crispygamesco.com

Ahoy Clear the Decks! fans - a couple of announcements -
First and foremast - I mean foremost - I am thrilled to announce that Sailors & Scoundrels has been received.

This next expansion has lots of famous historical figures both good and bad (Inspiration and Notorious) as well as Warrant officers to stick by your gun crews. Plenty of other new cards of many of the previous card types.

Due to some timing issues I did not use Kickstarter this time around, so the game is available on the website now for order.
www.crispygamesco.com

The last of the Pirate Hunter kickstarter bonus cards are also there as a mini-pack.

And the customized dice set will get added shortly. Plenty of time to get it all before the holidays!

First Day at PAX Unplugged was great fun, lots of demos of Clear the Decks! and also introduced the world to Who Knew? the game we are creating about the origins of phrases and expressions.
We are running a raffle for a 3D clue, 3D Catan and a game carrying case, so if you are PAX Unplugged stop by booth 4047!

12/11/2022

Ahoy Clear the Decks! fans.

Sailors and Scoundrels is in print and I should have within a few days.
Dice Rules cards have also been ordered all in preparation for PAX Unplugged Dec 2-4 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

In the meanwhile you can spend a few minutes of make and mend day watching my interview by Too Stupid Gamerz at PLAY NYC and checking out another preview card form the next set: Grog Ration.

A ration of rum was doled out every day in the British navy until the 1970's. Part ritual, part perk and part health benefit it was discontinued on Black Tot day. (Tot being a half a pint). The health benefit was that the lime had vitamin C which helped ward off scurvy.

Ahoy Clear the Decks! fans.
Tonight's preview is a new card type.
Famous sea captains from several different countries have joined the deck as an INSPIRATION to your crew.
They can be shuffled in to the deck, passed out one to a player at the start of the game or come up on the roll of the Bicorn (white) die.

Tonight we show you Horatio Nelson of England. We just passed the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar where Nelson led England to victory over Napoleon's fleet of French and Spanish ships. Sadly Nelson did not survive the battle.

I really like the card template - we made it convey the look of a monument or statue's base.

Be sure to see me at Play NYC 2022 at Chelsea Industrial on November 5th. www.play-nyc.com

Ahoy Clear the Decks! fans and followers.
I have some new important updates....

Sailors and Scoundrels cards are in final edit and I expect to finish the Kickstarter page in the next few days and submit for approval.

Here is a preview of one of the new types of cards - WARRANT - The Warrant officers typically stayed with the ship when the crew changed. These Sailors are out of your hand and stand by your gun crews to help out. They are first to fall in the battle however so use them wisely!

Once again, my Artist Anwar Hanano did a great job coming up with some new card borders - I cannot wait to show off the Inspiration and Notorious cards.... and the Dice Rules cards will also follow before PAX Unplugged.

Secondly - drumroll please - The two most common questions I was asked when demonstrating Clear the Decks! were
1. Where are the Pirates?
2. Do you have a Player vs Player version?

We took care of request #1 with our first expansion.
And I am pleased to announce that - yes, we are now playtesting:
Duels at Sea - a PVP Clear the Decks! card game.
(no board, no tokens and 1v1 or 2v2 ship to ship fighting.

If you are local to me and are interested in being a participant in playtesting please email or message me and we can set up a session.

The new dice rules!
First up - The red die
If you get the crossed swords then you move a Boarders card from the Boarders deck over to the top of the CREW deck. No one wants to see Boarders!

The good news is that if you get a 6 then you get to move the top card of the CREW deck over to the top of the Boarders deck. That's not so bad, since CREW don't really hurt your cannons.

Hello Clear the Decks! Fans!
It has been a busy summer and I hope everyone has been playing games, having fun and staying away from Mr. Covid.
Lots has been percolating here at Crispy Games and I am ready to start making some posts, previews and yes - publication!

First - you can see below that Clear the Decks! dice have arrived. This set of six d6 of different colors each has one of the game icons in place of the 1 side. Apart from just being neat they will have a set rules for you to add to the game as an option. Use any 1 or all 6 to add some random benefits or danger to your game.
Dice will be on the website for sale by this weekend.
The rules will be posted shortly for all of the dice. the rules for the Hat and the Skull dice are printed in the Sailors and Scoundrels expansion.
Yes, that's right - another deck is about to go to print!
This time around we will have 3 new cards types plus more of most of the original types. We went a bit "overboard" so we'll have some promo and bonus cards to add on to the Kickstarter campaign.
I'll start posting card samples soon.

Lastly - I have been lining up a bunch of events to do this Fall.
First up will be a one day visit this Saturday September 3rd to the Westchester Gaming Group's Convention at Croton Point Park. I'll have a table and be looking for players.
Other events on the docket are Betacon, Mepacon, Metatopia and a big 10x20 booth at PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia. We'll have new stress cannon balls to give away, both expansion decks, dice and restocked playmats for sale.
Hope to see some of my past crew at one or more of these events.

Happy Sails
Chris

Ahoy Clear the Decks! fans and followers.
Some more exciting news.
AS we continue working on Sailors and Scoundrels I am please to display the first draft of CTD dice.
Six different d6 each with a different CtD icon in place of the 1 numeral. Dot/Icon color is still TBD

These will be available as a set (6d6 fireball anyone?) and are an optional variant for the game.

In future posts I will explain how to use each of the dice - some can be used with the current set and expansion and others will come into play with card types in the last two expansions (Sailors and Scoundrels and Full Sail).

Ahoy Friends Old and NEW!
Crispy Games is thrilled to announce we had a banner day at the Long Island Tabletop Expo - a single day sales record was achieved!

Thankfully more playmats are on their way from my Florida fulfillment center so that I have some in-hand for Rising Phoenix game con next week.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and tried the game, let me talk about the game or even just chatted about being an indie designer and the journey (PS - its not over yet). I got to show off some of the cards slated for the Sailors and Scoundrels (or is it Scoundrels and Sailors?) expansion planned for September 2022.

In other news I continue to work on a different game with a new partner - we should have a couple home-made functional prototypes available shortly and I am on the prowl for play-testers once again. Hopefully Dexcom will happen in July and we can get some testing done there as well. Happy Spring everyone.

Chris
