So your customer’s a witch... OR maybe just a tad difficult. Avoiding them isn’t the answer.

Witches and wizards, may be terrifying, but they often bring something good - a lesson, an opportunity, an experience.

What you thought was a problem, might be an illusion, a misunderstanding.

Want to build a better relationship with difficult customers?

Here are 5 pieces of advice from our practical handbook:

1- Let them talk

It’s not about you. It’s about them. So hear them out.

2- Seek understanding

Understanding their concerns and comments helps you better address them and turn that customer’s frown upside down.

3 - Address the issue

Candy’s sweet, but no one likes everything sugarcoated. Be direct but kind.

4- Don’t take it personally

Again, it’s not about you. It’s about them. More often than not the issue is more about their concerns and feelings, than you.

5- Refocus on the issue

Don’t get sidetracked in the emotional details. Staying focused and clear on your shared goal will make sure the whole process is moving in the right direction.

How do you deal with your witchy customers?

Evolving from individual contributor to manager takes effort. It’s not just a promotion and then, boom, you’re ready for that next stage.

You may have the technical skills, but do you have the people skills?

Yes, your job is to cultivate results, but it’s also to help your direct reports grow and hit their goals.

You can’t do that without these essential practices:

- Setting expectations
- Having 1:1 meetings
- Giving and receiving feedback

So what do you do if you think you have quiet quitters in your workforce?

And no we’re not talking about people who do the bare minimum and coast by. We’re talking about people who were once high-performers creating some distance.

The answer––take care of them. Listen to their feedback. Understand their goals and intentionally support them.

Ultimately, quiet quitting is about giving and getting the same energy. If you aren’t investing in your people, why should they invest in you?
