Well, we've got some good news and some not-so-bad news.
First - We've been streaming continuously for 70 hours - since 6:00 PM Sunday until a just few minutes before 3:00 PM today!
Second - The not-so bad-news is that the system we set up to automatically reconnect if there's a failure has been working, but now our internet connection has fallen far enough below what we need that the system is spending more time reconnecting than streaming. But it's still working. Hopefully, later this evening our internet service will improve and so will the streaming.
Next - Better internet service is coming soon!! Can't wait!!

UPDATE ON STREAMING: We intend to get the station streaming, but our current internet service isn't up to the job. We need an additional computer - we have a plan for that - as well as better internet service and a way to pay for it. We don't have a plan for that yet but we're working on it.

Because of our less than adequate internet service, the stream won't stay connected. We are trying many times a day to restart it, but for the last two days, have not been able to stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time. The pinging you hear when you try to listen occurs when it's disconnected. If you listen and you can see the seconds tick by on the counter but you don't hear anything, that indicates that the stream is connected, but there's a programming error. We're working on fixing those. All of this takes time and money. We're all volunteers and we have no money so things are happening at the pace they're happening, which isn't necessarily the pace we would like. Please hang in there with us while we work to get this done. We appreciate your interest in the station and your patience and are working toward the time when you'll be able to listen to KZGM anywhere, on your phone or any other device.

Wow!

Pipevine Swallowtail on Heirloom Red Pentas (a butterfly favorite) in my butterfly garden. Adding flowers that are a food resource to local wildlife is a great step to transition your garden to a wildlife garden. You will also want to include host plants, or specific plants that fulfill the nutritional requirements for the caterpillars of that species. The host plant I have in my garden for these butterflies is Aristolochia tomentosa. Planting a garden for wildlife puts a little habitat back on the planet.

Well, things didn't go quite as well as we'd hoped yesterday. The station sounded great while it was streaming and then the computer we were using to stream it broke down and all you heard if you clicked on the link was the ping of the connection tone, telling us it wasn't connected. So…we've come up with a new plan, ordered some new hardware, and will start over on Monday. Stay tuned for latest developments.
