Reflecting on all the sports we have covered and after all the years of broadcasting, we got to do some of the worlds greatest athletes this weekend.
We taped Finnish Wife Carrying for a national broadcast in the future!
Take one item off our bucket list!
The course is an outdoor rough terrain with sandhills, a water hazard and a log to climb over, with the best time winning the race (and the wife's weight in beer)

THE REAL GOAT
This past weekend Go Live Sports Cast broadcast the NHPA World horseshoes championship in Lansing, MI. I Frank Mazzella was on the play by play along with the expert horseshoe knowledge of Stanton Gibbs and Mike Loomis. More than likely you have heard the term "GOAT", or "greatest of all time". Well, he pitches Horseshoes and was in Lansing to defend the Championship which he owns: it is his and no kidding. If you have never heard of Alan Francis look him up and read his history. I have included a snippet from his wilkpedia page. Lets start with an over 90 percent pitching of ringers. So in easy terms over nine throws out of ten he rings the stake.
Here is a bit of his history:
Alan Francis is a horseshoes pitcher from Defiance, Ohio. He has won the World Horseshoe Championship 28 times, in 1989, 1993, 1995–1999, 2001, 2003–2010, 2012–2019 and 2021-2023. That is the most anyone has won it (2nd place belongs to Ted Allen who has won 10).He is also the only player to consistently pitch over 90%,and is regarded by many as the greatest horseshoe pitcher ever. The New York Times wrote that he may be "the most dominant athlete in any sport in the country".
He began competing when he was 9, and before he turned 18 he won a record 4 Junior Boys World Championships, the first of which he won at the age of 12 in 1982. He competed in his first world championship in 1978, held in Des Moines. He is the youngest world champion in history. He has the highest ringer percentage in history, and the most consecutive wins in history.
What blows my mind away was that he is in great shape and his natural talent and ability for the sport is amazing. Alan Francis is a down to earth person brought up on a family farm in Missirou. I do have to say after calling Horseshoes this weekend I have found the sport very interesting and I really liked it as I learned more and more about the sport and the strategies. The stereotype of only elderly people throwing horseshoes i

RIP, Franco Harris
Kelly Rinne and I of Go Live Sports Cast had the honor to work with Franco Harris, broadcasting women's championship football for ESPN. Franco was owner of the Pittsburgh Passion team.
At the time, he had 2 other businesses: a bakery with donuts and sweet breads (our crew ate a lot of them!) he used to tell us they were good for you because they had added protein. He also had an athletic wear sock business, sweat wicking socks called SilverSport.
The first year, he stopped his car at the end of the night when he was leaving and took the time to shake Kelly's hand and thank both of us.
He was a really down to earth guy, not what you would expect from one of the most legendary players in the NFL.
- Frank Mazzella
Age 72, of Sewickley, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
Franco was born on March 7, 1950, at Fort Dix, NJ, to the late Cad and Gina (Parenti) Harris.
After graduating from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, NJ, he played fullback at Penn State under Joe Paterno. Franco graduated with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted him with the 13th pick in the first round of the 1972 NFL draft. His selection helped catalyze the evolution from the NFL's worst team to its most successful. Franco's achievements on the field were impressive - he was a four-time Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl IX MVP, 1972 Rookie of the Year, 1976 NFL Man of the Year, and a Pro Football Hall of Famer. His greatest achievements, however, were made off of the playing field. His steadfast dedication to helping others throughout his life serve as an inspiration to all and a testament to his commitment to kindness, charity, decency, and humility.
In his life after professional football Franco's passion for business manifested in a number of successful ventures including Super Bakery, the Leader in Bakery Nutrition®. His charitable endeavors and community involvement are unmatched, highlighted b
