ns Bryan Wagstaff and Reid Miller began playing together while students at U.S.C. They founded the band Jonas and toured all over the West Coast. Theirs was the classic life-on-the-road musician experience - schlepping gear to disorganized venues with poor lighting and sound systems where they played for little or no pay, often tired, hungry and rundown. They saw many exhausted an broke musicians take the stage, and though they rallied, these musicians gave less than their ideal performance. And the struggling artist often didn't know how to navigate the complicated world of copyrights and music ownership - many signed away their best works for inadequate pay. This was a prolific time for Jonas - they wrote hundreds of songs, and the band was committed to creating an amazing sound and protecting their assets. Wagstaff came to understand what Abraham Maslow so famously described in his Hierarchy of Needs - if you take great care of the artists, the music flourished. Fast forward twenty years and Reason 2 Rhyme Music is doing just that - providing the ultimate environment for artists to create and perform their best work.

When the COVID pandemic affected all of us, the music literally stopped. Some incredible venues across the country closed their doors forever. And Artists went dormant and were not able to showcase their incredible talents live.

Advocating for Artists, Reason to Rhyme Music assembled an incredible Team and put together a 3-day festival in Austin, Texas showcasing an International mix of some of the best Artists across the country.

It was our goal to provide a wonderful opportunity for these Artists to perform in front of a live audience, after being dormant for so long.

Similarly, it was our goal to provide a wonderful experience for fans of live music to get out and see live music again in a safe environment.

One of the highlights of this festival, was Marcus Rezak and his Gateway to the Galaxy showcase on Sunday, 4.18.21 playing original music from his then latest record release.

Inclusive in Rezak's band, were members of Snarky Puppy as well as the incredible virtuoso bass player Ola Timothy.

We believe music is magic – a universal language that positively changes lives. So it’s our job to lead the music industry in new directions by treating musicians like the magicians they are.

ARTISTIC FREEDOM: We favor the artist. Period. From contract to A&R to recording and live performance, we assure that the artists’ vision and music is served.

NATIONAL BOOKING: We do not believe in restricting the artist from performing live. Anywhere. This means no radius clauses. This means premiere hospitality and freedom of choice. We provide access to the best venues without exclusions or limitations, so they can perform their music, their way.

PUBLISHING: Art is everlasting. We believe artists should have control of their works from the moment of inception and inspiration. We assure rights to their works remain in their control to play, publish and promote. We are committed to empowering every artist we work with to define the deals and opportunities that best fit them.
