The Lake Oconee Academy boys’ basketball team is off to its best start in program history. The team entered this week at 7-0 overall. Last year, the Titans won a program-record eight games, and this week, they’ll play against Taliaferro County, Washington-Wilkes, and Aquinas. They have a chance to tie that eight-game mark or break the program record this week.

This week, two former Putnam County football players and graduates - Caleb Reaves (2011) and Damoio'n Wright (2013) - will coach their respective teams in the Class 5A and Class 6A state championship games.

Reaves is the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Milton, which will face Langston Hughes in the Class 5A state championship at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are ranked No. 2 nationally by MaxPreps and won the Class 7A state title last season.

Wright is the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Grayson, which will face Carrollton, the nation's No. 4 ranked team by MaxPreps, in the Class 6A state championship at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams are ranked No. 25 nationally by MaxPreps.

The GHSA state championship games can be watched on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
