Trying to take my mind off of feeling like a horrible human beingā¦ š¢
As promised hereās the video. Keep in mind this is only my second time using the Launchpad to create so excuse the fact that itās a little sloppy.
Got a few things done in the studio today. Now that both Black Levels and Freakshow are in the computer I created a project for each song. Basically that means I can either bounce the songs down and burn them to CD, or I can start adding parts to the BL stuff and finish my version of what could have been. So definitely feeling accomplished. It once again left me with a little time to mess around with the Launchpad again. Video of that to follow. š
Because I got all of the Black Levels stuff into the computer I had a little bit of time to start figuring out the Launchpad Pro. Ableton Live is a new format for me but Iāll figure it out eventually. Hereās me just messing aroundā¦
A track with me playing guitar
Black Levels is now digitized. Each track is actually an individual song. 24 in total with a few different versions of songs. The album was no where close to being completed so my plan is to flush it out a little and then release it on the Luna Tunes Moon label.
Itās good to be working in the studio again. Hopefully other things to come. š
After rearranging the drums and hauling out my gong here are a few shots of the current state of Luna Tunes. Almost everything is out now. I just need to reconnect everything to get fully back up and running. Slow but steady progressā¦
Still OG. Still Beautiful. Still Freaky.
More progress amidst memoriesā¦
More stuff done in the studio. Tonight has been a somber and nostalgic evening. I finally put up the artwork created by my late friend Blaireau (Blair Sanderson). He had a brilliant mind.
The music is from a band I was a part of back in the early 90ās, Black Levels. It features the vocals of my late friend Greg Montgomery, along with Ernie (who everybody just called āEā). The only reason I have this is because my late friend Gavin Brownbear Stein mailed it to me shortly before he unexpectedly passed. Itās the only existing copy in existence which is why Iām going to put it in the computer and burn it to CD. That way Iāll have a digital and hard copy in case anything ever happened to the tape. By the way, anyone else notice a depressing trend here? š¢
Which brings me to the point of why I got this part of things set up in the first place. Another friend that I was in a band with (and who is still very much alive thank goodness š) Ian recently handed me the tape to a band we were in called Freakshow. This would have been around 95-96 Iām thinking. Itās another case of it being the sole copy, as far as I know. So same thing. Digitize, hard copy (CD) to save it for all posterity. š
This is what happens when you donāt know your phone is recording because youāre too busy looking at all the dust thatās built up on your equipment from non useā¦
Progress in Luna Tunes
Me messing around in the studio
Since Luna Tunes has come back to life I figured itās time to pick up the guitar again (something else I hadnāt touched in a couple of years) and start building up calluses on my fingertips again. Also since things are active again I decided to break out a ānewā toy that hadnāt been opened yet. Let me know if you spot it. š
So after roughly 2yrs I wasnāt sure I still knew how to work things. I will admit I was a little rusty at getting everything set up to record, but this is proof (mainly for myself š) that I finally did it. The tracks are just dummy tracks to test everything out and work out the kinks. Luna Tunes has awoken from its slumber!

More shots of Luna Tunes coming back to life, slowly but surely.
After more than over a 2yr hiatus Luna Tunes studio is slowly waking up.
A Buzzrats gathering at Luna Tunes tonight. Forward progress finally being made again
Wild Planet by the B-52ās was released in 1980 and is todayās album. The group allegedly saved material from the making of their first record for their second, conscious of trying to avoid a sophomore slump.
My friend Gavin, who sadly recently passed, had mailed me tapes of an old rap group called āBlack Levelsā that I played guitar for, and was created by the late Greg Montgomery (RIP). Iām finally getting around to digitizing them. Sitting here listening to them is bringing all sorts of memories back!
