Incarcerated Voices Incarcerated Voices® will illuminate the humanity that exists within the concrete walls of this nation’s prisons through an interactive radio show.

Incarcerated Voices® is an exploration into the circumstances and conditions of incarceration through the eyes, ears, and hearts of prisoners. We seek to foster insight into the prisoner’s responses to broaden the general public’s understanding of the prison population today. The intent is to give a voice to the voiceless.

"Visit"
by Incarcerated Voices Contributor Patrick Bakaturski

I pray this day for a visit,
to take me away for a minute.
Dusk turns to dawn, dawn turns to dusk
while the visit is but a wishful thought.

Time always marches forward,
leaving me behind.
The past is an object which can be held in my hand.
A photo or letter trapped in time coveted by my mind.

The reminder of better times, before the visit
became the most important thing in life.
I wake up to see a visitor who isn't there.
Each day I see the visitor who isn't there.

Tears fill my mind, yet never leave my eye.
This is the life of a forgotten lifer.
You are just one who prays to see the visit which never comes.
