The Savage Pacer newspaper was founded by Southwest Newspapers in 1994 to serve the growing suburb of Savage, which is located on the south bank of the Minnesota River and is named for M.W. The Pacer newspaper is mailed free of charge on Saturdays to 4,900 homes and businesses that have requested its delivery. The newspaper annually conducts a voluntary subscription campaign.
