The seed for WVAV was planted in me as I discovered that I had a love for music at an early age. I began singing in the church choir around age 12. Once I reached High School, I joined the marching and concert band as well as the school choir. From there I went on to graduate from High School and move to Elizabeth NJ. Little did I know that life and music would take on a whole new meaning for me f
rom that point on. As I became known in NJ, I was recruited to sing and work with several bands and singing groups, most recently, a group called “REAL” I also sang in 2 choirs in my home church, Second Baptist Church of Rahway, NJ. I am also a song writer. In the early 90’s I decided to try hand as a DJ. It proved to be a great way to enhance my musical skills, so I learned all I could about playing music in addition to singing. This would be where I first discovered the seed that had been planted so many years ago. I’ve always been a fan of love songs every since I can remember. One day a friend heard a mix tape that I had made and admired the music that I used. He asked me if I would make a copy for him, so I did and he paid me for it. That sparked a brilliant idea. I began making mix tapes and putting my voice on them like what you hear on the radio, calling it “Lovers Mix” and recording them in volumes. I had no idea back then that this would go on to become what is now known as “The Midday Lovers Mix” radio show. It first aired January 1st 2009, New Years Day, on an internet radio station in Rahway NJ called IBN Radio & TV. Prior that the CEO of IBN, Mike Jones asked me to sit in for one of the station’s show hosts because he would be a little late. Immediately after my short experience on the air, Mr. Jones informed me that he felt very strongly that I had a future in radio. Fascinated by anything to do with music, radio and production, I not only became a show host, I began to rise quickly through the ranks, becoming a producer for radio and TV, Program director and executive producer for IBN under the leadership of IBN CEO Mike Jones. All this was a tremendous gift from God. The more I learned it began to become evident that as great as IBN was and as much as I enjoyed what I was doing, it was not to be my final destination. God had a much grander plan for me. As life started to present me with challenges and opportunities, I started to understand that there was a market for what I do, but this time, I would have to be the one who would spearhead the journey. So, armed with all the knowledge and experience that had been passed down to me, as all good things do, my teenier with IBN ended. However, it had not left me empty handed but rather, it had prepared and equip me with all that I needed to move forward. and for that I am forever grateful. With all this in mind, I knew that I wanted to own a radio station. So I created “Voice And Vision” Communications which is now WVAV Radio with those in mind who share with me an appreciation for music from our generation, the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond, the generation that revolutionized music and paved the way for today’s artists’ and musicians. WVAV brings a focus to providing clean, fun, family orientated music, programming and up to date information and social interaction to its audience. WVAV offers a forum for the community to have a voice to express its interests, issues and concerns, and to announce events and happenings.
