Why a luxury watch should be 18k yellow gold
A luxury watch should always be 18k yellow GOLD. These days some folks are paying gold watch prices for steel watches. This is crazy! Steel is NOT a luxury material and never has been. Even for a tool watch titanium is a better option than steel. Also, 18k gold holds up just fine for everyday use. A gold watch looks better the more you wear it. An old scratched up steel watch just looks like an old steel watch. Nothing special. An older gold watch with lots of use looks like class, old money. So don't feed into the steel watch hype. By a gold stunner and wear it!

Grand Seiko Thin Stunner
So, Grand Seiko listened and are now coming out with thinner Spring Drive watches. The New SLGA007 and SLGA008 Grand Seikos, with new 5-Day Spring Drive Caliber - these are both 11.8mm thin! Well done! Now we need micro adjustments in the clasps and we're 100%!
The first new 9RA2 watch is the Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition "Tree Rings" (henceforth referred to more economically as SLGA008). The watch has a rose gold case and at 40mm x 11.8mm, is relatively slim and it's a limited edition of 140 pieces, priced at $49,000. The new caliber 9RA2 is identical in performance to 9RA5, up to and including the 5-day power reserve, but in a move calculated to appease a major pet peeve of GS Spring Drive fans, the power reserve indication is now on the movement plate, rather than on the dial. This is the second Tree Rings model, following on the SLGH007 Hi-Beat.
The second new 9RA2 watch is the limited edition Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Seiko 140th Anniversary "Minamo Lake Suwa" (the name refers to the light on the surface of the lake, which the dial design echoes, but for our purposes, we'll refer to it as SLGA007). SLGA007 is also 40mm x 11.8mm, with a Series 9 design handset and indexes, and a wave-patterned blue dial. 2021 pieces will be made, at $8700.

Grand Seiko SBGA231 Titanium Diver Three Years Of Heavy Use - Unless I'm wearing my SBGY002 18k GOLD stunner dress watch my Grand Seiko SBGA231 titanium diver is always on wrist. I don't baby my watches. This amazing super hard titanium alloy watch has held up great. It's still super comfortable on wrist and runs at about +1/2 second a month. Amazing to say the least. At first when I got the watch I wasn't a fan of the clasp. It looked too bulbous and why the stamped parts? After about two week of use I started to like the clasp and now I don't think I would want a heavy use sport watch without it. It's so quick and easy to adjust and comes on and off easily. In addition to the quick adjustment feature it has traditional micro adjustments for initial and seasonal sizing. It simply works great and it balances the watch and has an aggressive industrial look that complements the watch.
