Most people forget this step when they start a business…
If you have the inkling to start a business of any kind, the first thing you need to do is get your home finances in order.
Building a business, no matter what kind, takes money.
Brick and mortar, online, direct sales, etc, you have the same necessities to pay for:
A product.
A store.
A way to market your business.
Product Based:
You need a product.
You need a place to sell them.
You need a way to collect money.
You need a way for people to find you.
Service Based:
You need a service.
You need a place to sell your service.
You need a way to collect money.
You need a way for people to find you.
If you plan to self-fund your business, you need to know how much money you have available to invest from your home funds.
When considering your business, it's important to think beyond immediate bills. Adopt a long-term perspective, envisioning the future of your business and planning accordingly. This strategic thinking will make you feel more prepared and forward-looking.
Come up with a plan and get organized.

Done is better than perfect. 🤍
I will be a hypocrite if I don't practice what I preach.
This post has nothing to do with building a lifestyle business.
But it had everything to do with courage.
I have been in the digital business world for 6 years now. Lemme tell ya....I have missed so many opportunities for growth and more profits because I was afraid to speak.
Those of you who know me know that I am rarely silent, and speaking my mind comes with the territory of my ADHD brain.
However, having to calculate my words and deliver a message is a whole other obstacle.
So when it comes to telling my kids to do as I say, not as I do...that just doesn't work for me.
They look to me for guidance and support. They may never see the videos I make or the posts that I create, but I will be able to wholeheartedly say: I do this. You can do this.
Do I feel stupid for not putting on makeup, fixing my hair, and not grabbing a cardi before hitting record?
Hell yeah.
Do I care?
Hell no.
My goal is to be a speaker with an inspirational message and voice. I will never gain that skill if I remain silent.
This goal shifts my content plan, but I feel it's so worth it. 🤍
So, if your voice is keeping you from accomplishing your goals and living the dream life you envision, send me a DM, and let's get our messages out together. 🥂
Cheers,
- Sarah

I cannot believe I ignored this...
But I fixed it...
RunningInBoots.com is back! 🥂
If I just came up on your feed, here's what's up:
I started a blog back in 2018. Back then, blogs were a big deal. I had no idea what I was doing.
Enter: overwhelm, imposter thoughts, fear of judgement
Exit: confidence
I was so worried about what everyone else would think about me starting a blog.
There's no telling how many thousands of dollars I let slip away because I let myself be bullied by things that weren't relevant to my success.
I took down RunningInBoots.com and piled it up with the other things I started and quit too soon.
Fast forward to today.
I study marketing and business just about everyday. I realized that the ever changing trends and algorithms will hurt those brands who don't have their own piece of real estate they own to grow their business.
Instagram could go away.
Facebook could go down
TikTok could disappear.
All the social platforms are rented spaces that sooo many entrepreneurs are growing in.
You can never truly control what your audience sees, but when you have your own space, the social media vanity metrics won't bother you.
So...if you have online business on your mind, let's talk about starting a blog to be the basis of your business.
Before you think, OMG...I can't learn another thing....remember, you've got your Rural Business Bestie to guide you. 🥂
Go check out RunningInBoots.com and let me know what you think.
Send me a DM when you're ready to chat about your own online business.
I have said it so many time before...
Rural living is different.
Feeding America never stops.
Auctions never stop.
Livestock never stop.
But the one thing I love to do is be a supportive Passenger Princess for the drivers in my life as we help to move livestock where they need to go.
But I had a hard time yesterday.
I have been caught up in the progress I haven't been making. I seriously considered dusting off my resume and going back to a nursing job.
But I thought about all the things I would have to miss out on if I threw in the towel now.
So I had a major mindset shift instead.
I refuse to let anything take my laptop lifestyle including my own sabotaging thoughts.
I started thinking about the ways I used to market before the social media marketing craze became a thing. I have been working so hard to duplicate the results I've seen others have knowing I wasn't in line with creating short-lived content.
Let's face it, the only thing short about me is...well...me.
I have a lot to say that won't fit in a tiny Reel or catch your attention in the 3 seconds you're paying attention to my account.
Oddly enough, I already knew this because of the business model I have sustained over at TxFRS.com.
So....🥁🥁🥁
I'm going back to blogging.
And I encourage anyone who is struggling to be seen in a tiny crack of social media to do the same
Blogging has so many benefits that you can't always sustain from a social media account.
If social media marketing is working for you, rock on.
As for me, I'm digging in my heels to something that has a little more longevity attached to it: SEO, blogging, Pinterest, and email marketing.
If you've read this far, thanks! You'll soon be seeing rants like this back on RunningInBoots.com.
