7 years ago, at a wedding I shot. This family was standing with their backs to me so I went up and tapped them on the shoulder and asked them to turn around so I could take their picture. This was totally a random, spur of the moment shot as they turned around and looked at me. No rehearsal. No coaching. They literally turned around and looked at me and I grabbed the shot. The lighting was perfect and so were they.

Got back out this evening and found my Roosevelt Elk buddy! We spent a little over an hour together. He was a fair distance away at first, but he slowly made his way over closer to me feeding on grass along the way. I hope we get to spend lots more time together. I think he's pretty neato!

One more from last night. Will definitely be going back tonight to see what I can see. This is a relatively short walk from where the Bald Eagle nest is. Less than a 10-minute walk away.

My. Gosh! I had the most amazing evening tonight! I met a couple of ladies and their toddler and babies and dogs a couple of weeks ago out there. The one lady said that she and her husband own the neighboring dairy farm. Super nice people. Just fantastic. The dogs like to play fetch too! I hadn't seen them again until tonight. The one lady told me that she was hoping to run into me again because there was a young elk that had been adopted by a herd of cows nearby and she thought maybe I could get some good pictures of it! OMG!!! So I walked with them to a section of the trail I had not been on before and sure enough, there is a young bull elk hanging out with this large herd of cows! We walked up and there it was in perfect lighting and everything! I will DEFINITELY be going back to this section and seeing what I can see!!! 😃

I walk this trail almost every day and there are a lot of bunnies this time of year. It might be my imagination, but I could swear that they're getting used to seeing me and are less afraid of me now than they were a month or two ago. This one just stood there looking at me as I inched my way forward. Oh, they still hop off if I get too close, but this one let me get closer than in the past. Kinda cool.

The young eagle is definitely figuring out the flying part of its existence. It was down below the nest yesterday and today it was high up above the nest, along with its mommy. I patiently waited for it to show me some of its flying skills, but it wasn't budging. Hopefully one of these days. I might have to pitch a tent! 😄

I found the eaglet in a much different place today! It's venturing further and further away from the nest. I'm guessing there's been some limited flying thus far. It's exciting walking to this nest in anticipation of where this young one might be now. I also had a American Kestrel stop by and say hello, which was pretty neato too.

Thrilled to see the "baby" eagle outside of the nest last night. It's exploring its world and getting bolder and bolder. One of these days soon it will take the plunge and do some soaring. I love this time of year and the days when fledglings fly.

The "baby" eagle was perched precariously over the front lip of the nest. I'm guessing it won't be too much longer before it decides to go for its first flight. I hope I'm there when it does, although the chances of that happening are pretty slim. 🙂

My good bud, Brian James, and his band played the historic Spanish Ballroom in Tacoma this past Friday night. The other two acts that night were Grace Bello, who got a 4 chair turn on The Voice last year, and Amelia Day and The Cloves, an INCREDIBLE local area band with gigantic things coming their way for sure. It was just an amazing night of world class music all the way around. Brian and the boyz were getting standing ovations starting just 3 songs into their set. I got to meet Grace's mom and dad and talk with them for a while. Her mom has a new camera, and she was asking me all kinds of questions about settings etc. And Amelia Day and The Cloves. My gosh! How do I even put into words how good they are? Such an amazing group of musicians that night. I was in heaven.

FANTASTIC night last night at the historic Spanish Ballroom in Tacoma! Brian James and band were getting standing ovations only three songs into their set! Great venue and a great crowd!

The rain finally let up, so I went for my daily walk this evening. I had my earbuds in and was listening to my oldies station and the song "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong came on at the exact moment that I was taking pictures of some wild roses. "I see trees of green, red roses too, I see them bloom for me and you and I think to myself, what a wonderful world...". And I got a big 'ol lump in my throat. Today was a really, really good day.

I've seen this guy (yes, it's a buck) walking over this grassy hillside, near where I live, a couple of times this past week. If you zoom in a bit you can see a horn beginning to emerge next to his right ear. I took this picture two nights ago.
