Mental health & normalizing therapy in the black community mean a lot to us so of course we jumped at the opportunity to support a project about it. We’re excited to finally share season 1 of Shout Out 2 My Therapist with y’all. Thank you E4 Caribbean, for bringing me on board! It is an honor & privilege to serve as one of the facilitators for this wonderful initiative! I am excited about sharing with students throughout the Caribbean and contributing to the development of filmmaking in the region. We continue our Caribbean Student Film Workshop Facilitators Series next, with Yaphet Jackman.

Yaphet is an Emmy-nominated, Guyanese-American freelance cinematographer, director, business owner, published author and video content manager, currently based in Ohio, USA. Yaphet holds a bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Guyana, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Film from Ohio University.

His interest in film was piqued at the age of eight after viewing an HBO trailer, which established his passion for filmmaking. His early career saw him working as a Production Assistant with Nigel Abrams at Spotlight Productions, a Studio Manager with Guyenterprise and the St. Vincent and Grenadines' Broadcasting Corporation (SVGBC), working as TV Editor for Karib Cable in St. Vincent and Antigua. His time at Guyenterprise exposed him to documentary filmmaking, as well as editing, as he worked on projects for international organizations including the World Bank and USAID.

Yaphet has developed a number of films (short & feature), television shows, music videos, and creative projects. His latest work includes projects for ALLBLK, formally Urban Movie Channel, and the Prada Foundation in the US.

In 2019, he officially registered his Film Production and Consulting Company Bent Street Films LLC, a name inspired by the colorful culture and characters of his childhood home neighborhood. In that same year, he created and hosted the first annual 592 48 Hour Film Challenge in Guyana. The challenge is one of the ways he plans on making a contribution to the Guyanese film industry. Yaphet also became a published author in 2019 when his undergraduate research was officially released as a book - A Biographical Overview of Guyanese Filmmakers between 2002 and 2012.
