OBT's Tom Martin created a, hybrid score for a moving Vietnam documentary by award winning filmmakers Alison Gilkey and Eric Neudel; ”The Wake Up Call”.
The story is told by several Marines, in particular, Dave Evans, who lost both legs during his tour of duty. Dave rises above his near-fatal injuries to become a medical aid, serving hundreds of Middle Eastern victims of war, suffering from loss of limbs.
Music treatment for the film was a mix of OBT library cues and original composition, helping to re-enforce the progression of Dave's story. The tone was sometimes serious, yet much of the score was hopeful, accompanying Dave's rise.
“The Wake Up Call” debuted on April 17 at The Boston 2022 International Film Festival where it was extremely well received. The film went on to win the BIFF “Best Film Content” award.
