I want to express my condolences to the family and friends of Cliff Provost. He was a very generous man and supported Rochester TV Archive for many years. His collection of locally recorded tapes captured many critical moments in history dating back to 1987. I will forever be grateful for his contributions to this project as well as his friendship.

I don't usually do this, but I wanted to give a shout-out to the local meteorologists who took care of business this afternoon when the weather turned bad. Here's a peek at the radar velocity around 2PM, when Canandaigua was hit by strong winds. Thanks for pushing through all of the negativity that comes with storm coverage and keeping us informed.

This fancy device has many different capabilities, but I primarily use it for the time-base corrector. It is a crucial step in stabilizing video before capture.

It's alive! After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the miniature control board (if that's what it's called) was defective on both hard drives. The USB connection had worn out on these poorly manufactured devices. All files remain intact.

I've made some changes to the workflow process and upgraded my equipment, so this quality can now be achieved from consumer-grade tapes. No color correction or adjustments were applied to the video. This is the result of using broadcast-quality equipment combined with my unique process.
