Our Story

First, I would like to thank the brave subjects of this book: Brooke De La Cerda, Jade Kaufman, Cassie O'Meara, Sophie, Karri Davis, and Whitney Grounds. I say brave subjects because all of the subjects posed either n**e, topless, or in sheer clothing; none of the photos you will see have been photoshopped in anyway (the bodies have not been modified, the skin has not been retouched); and finally most of them were not even wearing makeup. In addition I have a tendency to choose weird photos and my editing style and artistic sensibility is radically different than what you see on Instagram. So anyone who allows me to photograph them is truly brave.

Second, I would like to thank you dear reader. This entire endeavor would not be possible without your support. I cannot describe how much it means to an artist such as myself to have people actually support them and want to purchase something they have created.

This project started as a way for me to hopefully make a little money from my art; thus it started as a personal art project. But it has expanded to far more. The theme of this issue is social media and sadness and as I have delved further and further into this topic the sheer importance of talking about this topic has become more and more important. I want this issue to be the beginning of a conversation. I want everyone who reads this to think actively about how they use social media and its impact on their lives. Inside this issue you will of course find my photography but you will also find my personal take on the history of the internet, personal essays and questions and answers from the photography subjects, and perhaps most importantly a few basic solutions as to how we may all alleviate the sadness caused by social media.

Sincerely
