Today would have been the birthday of the great Rick Wright; keyboardist, composer and one of the founders of Pink Floyd.
After his death in 2008, David Gilmour remembered him like this:
"There is no one who can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and friend. In discussions about who or what Pink Floyd were, Rick's enormous contribution in the later days with Roger Waters has often been overlooked. He was such a gentle, modest and private guy but his deep voice and playing were vital, magical components of our recognisable sound. I have never played with anyone like him. The harmony of our voices and our musical telepathy blossomed on 1971's Echoes. For me, all Pink Floyd's greatest moments are the ones when he is in full flow. After all, without Us and Them and The Great Gig in the Sky, both of which he composed, what would The Dark Side of the Moon have been?"

🔴 SEPTEMBER 20 2012
The former north London home of the original band members of Pink Floyd was bought by a Singaporean developer. Sham Masterman, who admitted not being a big fan of the rock band, bought the Highgate house and the one next door for £1.2m each. Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and Syd Barrett (Official) had all lived in the house in the 1960s. The previous owner, lighting technician Mike Leonard, was landlord and friend to the band and even inspired their earliest name, Leonard's Lodgers

It's ten years since Storm Thorgerson sadly passed away. Storm, along with Aubrey Powell, and colleagues in Hipgnosis and Storm Studios, was responsible for most of Pink Floyd's imagery over the years.

Pink Floyd performed a historic concert in Venice on July 15, 1989. The concert was held on a floating stage in the city's St. Mark's Square, which was built specifically for the event. The concert was free and open to the public, and an estimated crowd of over 200,000 people attended.

The concert was part of Pink Floyd's "Momentary Lapse of Reason" tour, which featured songs from the album of the same name, as well as classic hits from the band's back catalog. The concert in Venice was particularly notable for its stunning visual effects, which included a giant inflatable pig that floated over the crowd and fireworks that lit up the night sky.

The concert was also a logistical feat, as it required the construction of the floating stage and the transportation of all the band's equipment and crew to Venice. The concert was broadcast live on television and radio, and it has since become one of the most iconic moments in Pink Floyd's storied career.

"Pulse" is a live album by the British rock band Pink Floyd, released in 1995. The album was recorded during the band's Division Bell Tour in 1994, and features live performances of songs from that album as well as many of Pink Floyd's classic hits.

The album was recorded over a number of shows at Earls Court in London, and captures the band's powerful live performances and elaborate stage productions.

"Pulse" is also known for its stunning visual display, including a laser light show and a giant circular screen that displayed psychedelic visuals during the performance. The album was released on CD, vinyl, and VHS, and later on DVD and Blu-ray, allowing fans to experience the live show from the comfort of their own homes.

Overall, "Pulse" is a must-have for Pink Floyd fans and a testament to the band's enduring legacy as one of the greatest live acts in rock history.

The Message Of Pink Floyd’s ‘Animals’ Still Resonates 46 Years Later
On January 21rd, 1977, Pink Floyd shocked the world with their politically charged new album, Animals. A musical take on George Orwell‘s novels like 1984 and Animal Farm, the release spoke to the corruption and social injustice that was prevalent in 1970’s Britain, with pigs, dogs, and sheep symbolizing the aristocracy, military, and working classes, respectively.
