It’s too early for this 😂😭
But really tho, please stop putting your trash in the middle of the sidewalk.

No one told me how embarrassing it would be to transfer out of my wheelchair and see the seat cushion completely covered in crumbs 😂
Does this happen to anyone else?!?

Slam balls are a super hard movement for me since I am paralyzed from the chest down. Getting the ball of the ground with rough to say the least.
All around, this is just not an aesthetic movement lol and that’s okay.
Whether you feel silly, awkward or are just learning a movement, it still counts.
Let me know if there’s any movement you feel awkward doing below!

Relearning how to move, how to live is hard. It’s frustrating, it’s embarrassing, it’s exhausting.
Nothing quite compares to looking back and seeing how far you’ve come.
Keep pushing

I wish I had more confidence to tell people that their questions or comments are inappropriate in the moment.
For now, I’ll nod along and then post about the experience on the internet. lol
Has this happened to anybody else??

Someone asked how I would get off the ground into my wheelchair if I needed help and this is how I would do it.
You set yourself up sideways and get into a crouch position. I push into the chair and ground, lifting my butt up, while my roommate pulls on my pants lifting the butt and guiding it to the chair.
If you have a gait belt, you can also put that around your waist for your partner to grab onto. Gives more leverage!
Probably should have used some tighter leggings because my @athleta joggers had a little too much give. Luckily I can’t feel the massive wedgie that comes with this assist. 😂
Let me know what other transfers or assisted transfers you want to see!

I have definitely yeeted myself out of a chair a time or two. Luckily, a little birdie taught me this trick and now I can thro2 medicine balls and relive my athletic days without ending up on the ground.
If you have a higher level spinal cord injury or minimal core control, this might be useful for you!
Please excuse this really cute motion of me flopping around. 😂

People always underestimate how much time and space it takes for me to stop my wheelchair quickly. Which has led to more than one accidental ankle run in.
I can’t feel like my legs but I know that it hurts.
Amusement parks, sporting events, concerts, etc. give wheelchair users more space than you think necessary.

I had a bunch of comments on one of videos asking how my legs were crossed.
Reminder that there are ambulatory wheelchair users who can walk, and stand and cross their legs on their own.
My method is much more exciting. I use my hands. Now you know.

Hey! I’m Kerry. I had a spinal cord injury 2 years ago and I’ve been trying to figure out what this new life looks like.
I am a T 5 Asia A- ifkyk. I currently call California home. I’m a dog mom to the cutest boy, Rex. Im always going to crack a joke- life’s too short not to laugh.
I love all things sports and outdoorsy. Ready to take on the world of adaptive pickleball.
Traveling continues to be a big goal of mine and I think it’s time to plan a trip. Let me know where you recommend below!

I was so scared to try this. Thinking you can do pull ups from a full hang and actually doing them is very different. Also the ground is really far away. 😅
2 years ago, I could barely get my butt off my seat for a couple of reps. Today, I conquered a pull up that I couldn’t do with a non disabled body. Just a little bit of progress every day.
Thank you @tvan_bam for offering to help after both of our shoulders were tired from boxing.

People say a lot of interesting things to me in public. This one definitely takes the cake. She wouldn’t take no for an answer when I said I couldn’t get up or kick out my legs. 😅 this interaction lives rent free in my head.
What are some out of pocket comments you’ve heard as a wheelchair user or disabled person?

Someone asked me to show how I transfer onto equipment at the gym. I stay in my chair for the majority of my workouts, so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to try something new.
I decided to try the chest press for the first time and was ready to crush this transfer too. the confidence was definitely misplaced lol This transfer made me nervous. The seat had an incline it was further away from my chair than I thought. I was not sure where to grab. I had to do two little transfers because my butt didn’t make it all the way. Eventually, I made it.
Here’s your reminder that everything gets easier the second time.

Rex is very much the best boy but he will definitely sell my soul and push me into the street for a piece of cheese. The wheelchair doesn’t automatically mean service animal.

I still get really insecure when I feel disconnected from my body. I get frustrated and embarrassed when it’s not doing what I want.
I had a harder time getting into the groove this round. My body felt out of it. The only way to get better is to go through it. You’ll catch me the ring soon enough 😂
