Please join us in saying farewell to our friend and partner.
John Boone
September 25, 1964 - October 31, 2023

John Benjamin Boone, 59, of Foley, Alabama, passed away on October 31, 2023 from complications from dementia. He was born on September 25, 1964, in Mobile, Alabama. John was a beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but we all know, because he told us, that John was ready to go home to Heaven.

John began his work life at the young age of 14, working in the kitchen of a Sambo's restaurant. He quickly climbed the ranks and spent the next 25 years honing his culinary skills in various restaurants throughout Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. From chain restaurants to fine dining establishments with renowned chefs, John's talent in the kitchen knew no bounds. He could cook anything to perfection, from a simple BLT sandwich to complex dishes like Hot Pepper Cheese Chicken, a Paul Prudhomme recipe he loved to make. His innovation, experimentation, and dedication to his craft made him well-respected among his colleagues and loved ones. John's culinary expertise brought joy and nourishment to countless people throughout his career.

After his successful tenure in the food service industry, John ventured into different fields. He worked as a pest control technician and later ran a pool maintenance service company alongside a close friend. However, John's life took an unexpected turn when he learned of his chronic illness. Despite the challenges he faced, he adapted and became a partner in Global Marketing Solutions with his wife, April. Together, they grew and operated the business for 18 years. John's retirement in 2016 due to his declining health ended his career but only enhanced his love of his friends and hobbies. Throughout his career, John was known for his exceptional work ethic, managerial skills, fairness, and quiet fortitude.

In his leisure time, John had two great passions: New Orleans Saints Football and University of Alabama football. He followed both teams with unwavering enthusiasm and was a true fan. John and April experienced many wonderful adventures centered around the New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans.

They also traveled far and wide, exploring new locales with family and on their own. They especially loved the Pacific Northwest and Germany. The memories of all their travel adventures will help sustain April in her deep sorrow and loss.

John is survived by his loving wife, April Boone; his sisters, Cindy Boone Floyd and Kathy (David) Pickard; his father-in-law, Gary Woodham; his mother-in-law, Beth Woodham; his brother-in-law, Gary Woodham (Stephanie); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Boone; his mother, Edith Marks Boone; and his brother, David H. Boone.

A funeral service will be held at Vernant Park Baptist Church in Foley, AL. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the clergy at the church and the caretaker at Vernant Park Cemetery where John will be laid to rest.

In you feel called, contributions can be made to Vernant Park Baptist Church, Worship on the Water or the Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation. These organizations held special meaning to John and his family.

John “Saint John” Boone will be remembered for his remarkable culinary skills, his unwavering dedication to his family and his work, his joy for storytelling, and his love for football and travel. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
