Mystery solved.

The source of a letter — written in 1945 by a serviceman stationed in Hampton Roads — has been identified.

No, the bottle didn’t float aimlessly for 80 years before being found on a Florida beach.

Mike Meyer’s father kept about 50 letters he’d received during World War II as keepsakes until the day he died. After reading and re-reading the letters, Meyer decided to share them with the world and send them adrift.
