Virginia Aquarium works to recover whale from ocean in Virginia Beach
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center Stranding Response team works to drag a whale out of the ocean Sunday after it washed up at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach. About 200 people were lined along the beach at 25th Street to watch the recovery efforts.

Firefighters are adding another ladder to fight a blaze that broke out at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
The fire has injured a firefighter, shut down a section of the Atlantic Avenue corridor and is sending smoke wafting through a large part of the resort area.

Retired Master Chief Gerald "Jerry" Gandy served as captain of a river patrol boat in the Vietnam War for about 10 months before an injury ended his time there. The attack that injured Gandy also killed a Vietnamese soldier on the boat.
