A father, husband, filmmaker, storyteller, musician, coffee fanatic, french fry goblin, etc. WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...

In my youth, I spent many hours watching home videos of camping trips, birthdays, Saturday mornings, home-made kung fu movies, you name it! My dad always had a thing for cameras, constantly taking pictures and videos. Our collection was impressive... if there was a competition, we'd

probably win. We had cabinets and drawers full of video tapes, each one accurately indexed. Reliving experiences, feelings and emotions. Like that one time I freaked out over our first CD-ROM drive during Christmas or when my little brother was two and danced to Rancid songs screaming "Oy!" The tapes were constant reminders that life was rich with love and adventure. THIS BRINGS US TO TODAY

I started working in the wedding industry about 6 years ago playing live music at weddings. First it was for friends, then friends of friends and so forth. Eventually it evolved into full DJ and live music services, which I still do from time to time. For years I dabbled with video editing on random projects and for my music channel on YouTube. In the summer of 2016 I decided to dive in and combine my wedding experience with my deep affection for film. At first, I didn't really know what this would all become, but so far it has been lots of fun and incredibly rewarding. I'm looking forward to what is ahead as I continue to learn and grow. WHERE DID "GOODCO" COME FROM? "Goodco" is derived from an old band name "In Good Company". We don't play together anymore, but the name just stuck. It represents being surrounded by the people we love and care about. Which remains relevant for a film company that tells stories about humans loving humans.

Why did I get into filmmaking education? It was never to feed an ego or to explain why my way is the best way. I am not blind to the fact that there are so many incredibly talented creators in this world, especially in 2024. So what gave me the gumption?

It actually took years to realize what my voice was as an educator. About 6 years ago when I first started offering mentorships, the curriculum was technically driven. I was helping new filmmakers get familiar with their camera settings and body language while shooting. Over the years I started to realize that people connected with my work because the couples felt real. This forced me to reverse engineer my storytelling process. I had to ask myself, “what makes a film feel honest?” This whole notion reformed how I approached my style of coaching.

Sonder Retreat and 1:1 workshops have been such a beacon of light in my career path. Creating community is going to be huge in this next chapter of mine. Thank you so much for following along as always and sharing this roller coaster ride with me.

HUGE thanks to for getting this BTS shots of my 1:1 workshop with .

GOODCO PHOTOS - We love when our clients trust the Goodco way of storytelling and onboard our complete video and photo team. Don’t get me wrong, I love our friendors (friend vendors), and will always enjoy connecting with other creatives, but there is just another level of synergy we love reaching for.

Sam and Christina showing off their “We just got effing married in Mexico (and we get to eat soon)!” pose 🤣. Another amazing multi day coverage wedding in paradise. They showed us how easy it is to make a couple strangers from the internet (us lol) feel like family.

I had to watch the film I was working on one more time to see if it was truly finished. When it ended, I bursted into uncontrollable tears. It was perfect. After collecting myself, I thought about my emotions. Sure the film is beautiful and perfect in my eyes, but what I was thinking about was my client. I can only imagine how they will feel and connect with it. This is their life… and it is an incredibly beautiful one.

I am just one lucky bystander that got to witness it all unfold over a weekend.

I’ve been a full time filmmaker for 4.5 years now and still love telling wedding stories. Sure, I’ve gotten in over my head with workload, but never have I felt the urge to exit weddings to do something else. I feel like this is what I was meant to do.

Hi, I’m Chris, some people call me “Goodco” lol, which is fine. Just thought I’d say hello from my insufficiently organized office. It’s strange to look at myself lately because I’ve lost 40 lbs since February of this year. Wild I know. During my routine labs, we found out that I have type 2 diabetes. The script changed overnight.

As a parent and partner, I have the responsibility to be around for as long as possible. That meant an immediate change in lifestyle. I’ve changed my diet drastically and have started to be more active. It’s too bad it took a diagnosis to trigger the motivation, but I’m finding ways to be grateful.

As you know this is just one of the many health trials that my family has faced this year. My wife’s battle with breast cancer (clear now!) and my son’s serious lifelong condition with epilepsy. All of this has just made me realize that there are only things you can control, to take life with grace, and to be present in the moment. I’m so lucky to get to do what I do, to meet people around the world, to tell stories, and to discover new friendships. Despite all the hardships, I can still easily find ways to be thankful for all the amazing things in my life. When thanksgiving rolls around next month, I have so much more to be thankful for this year.

GOODCO PHOTOS - I am so excited to present you with the Photography extension of Goodco Studios. Kendall is going to be a very important part of our storytelling. It has been a long time goal of mine to share the stage with the someone has a similar creative instincts. We believe in creating the right environment for our couples and letting moments speak for themselves. More than we have ever seen before in the industry, our approach will be much more “video-centric” to capture more candids, natural movement, and emotions. We have also tuned our photo aesthetic to be as similar as possible. Keeping true tones with a slight sun kissed glow.

Thanks for being excited with us. We have so many more beautiful weddings and elopements abroad this year to share with you all. Our books are officially open for Videography and Photography collections for 2024.

To all my photographer friends out there. I still adore you and would still love to work with you! We are still friends, I just want to see less of you, bahaha! Just kidding

Sonder Retreat is a completely brand new venture and we are so excited to announce episode one next Tuesday the 31st! I have been offering 1:1 learning experiences for a few years now, but it’s time to start building community. Here is a short video highlighting a few filmmakers that I’ve been lucky enough to spend meaningful time with.

This retreat is for those who feel proficient in their craft, but are ready to elevate their creative intuition. We will focus on training your eye and and learning a cadence that allows you to shoot more naturally. All while enjoying yourself as a world traveler and sharing the experience with eight other like-minded people. It’s all about sharing great meals, seeing great sights, and growing together.

Info on our first retreat location drops on Tuesday the 31st. Location, lodging, and pricing info will be all there.

Applications will open one week later on February 7th. You must apply to be considered. We are looking for filmmakers who are in the same place of their business. That way context and content will resonate equally with everyone. Once these pre-requisites are met, we will go in order that we receive the applications. So if you’re interested in joining us on an epic episode one (we went all out!), definitely try to be one of the first eight in line!

SONDER an intimate destination retreat for filmmakers. A one of a kind experience for eight. We will set the scene for meaningful conversations through beautiful expeditions across the globe. That’s right, you may need your passports to have a few blank pages. With a small group, we are able to be intentional and focus on personalized learning experiences. The travel experience will be nothing less of fancy, do you know me or do you know me? Haha! We will be staying in stunning homes and indulging in creative culinary experiences from a private chef. It’s a time to truly get away, to travel, to work on mindset as a filmmaker.

My barber told me this the other day, “so basically they’ve already learned how to go 0-60mph and now this retreat will pave the path for them to go 60-100mph?” The metaphor is pretty spot on. Thanks Eric!

The last few years I’ve really focused on the 1:1 virtual calls and in person workshops. I’ve wanted to keep the same energy, but incorporate community. That’s why it’s important for Sonder and to me, that we keep it to eight. It’s not about profit margins, it’s truly about curating the perfect experience. I’ve been working closely with my experience coordinator Kelsey, to provide you all with the best time. We want your cup to be full as a filmmaker, a person, and a traveler.

Our first destination will be announced next week on the January 31st. Applications will be open on the 7th. There are only eight seats. If you want to go 60-100 with a few other like minded people, let’s go!

Find yourself a little spot in the mountains.

It’s official, I’m going to grow my YouTube channel! Link in bio! In 2023 I’m taking on less than half of the weddings I’ve been accustomed to. To be honest, 2020 was going to be my first year that I pulled back the number of weddings I worked. Then the world turned upside down. The next couple years proved to be a lot with reschedules and family health complications. I can’t keep putting things off though, the time starts now.

I’ve been wanting to connect with this community and honestly there isn’t a social media platform like Youtube. It has a clear identity. Instagram and TikTok have their place, but it is exhausting being on the beat sometimes. YouTube speaks to me in a different way. I feel like I can be a lot more intentional, share longer form films, dig deep on creative decisions, review fun products, etc.

I should probably have a better game plan on posting schedule, because they say consistency is everything, but I don’t have one lol. My days are still wrapped up in editing wedding films (which I still LOVE, don’t get it twisted haha). It was important for me to at least make this first video and to get the ball rolling.

So if you are at all interested in subscribing, I’d love for you to come join me on YT. There is a link in my bio for convenience. Thank you so much!

It’s finally here, the Iceland teaser. The daunting task of creating something that was worthy of a location that has been on my bucket list for years. Before I started this edit, all I knew deep down was that I wanted it to stay true to the couple and my style of storytelling. Not to get carried away with epic drone shots and all the footage of lush scenery (which there are plenty). Staying grounded and making it story first, like you were there celebrating with them is the most important thing to me.

“I had no idea I wanted a video like that and now I’m obsessed.” - John

This was a shoot from one of my 1:1 workshops I hosted. Husband and wife team A+J were actually doing photography for an elopement we had that weekend, but I asked if they would be so kind to model for us during our short stay in WA. Being creatives themselves, they didn’t often find themselves in front of the camera. I thought it would be a really fun experience for all of us.

The main goal of the content session of the workshop was to show how to make a shoot not feel like a shoot. Just two people hanging on the beach. Sure, there was some light direction, but keeping you in the moment is always going to yield the best and most natural content.

Pretty shots in beautiful light will get my attention, but making the moments feel authentic will wrap me up. That’s where the focus should always be.

Photo and video teams that get along and work well together will serve you better. If they can sing together too that’s just a bonus. Would you believe me if I said this was only our first or second run through of the song? You probably said yes cause I definitely missed the harmony on her run lol. Finished strong though!

Hi, I’m Chris.

I’m a wedding filmmaker based our of Portland, OR, and I can’t think of a better way to spend this life than spreading love and joy through your stories.

My affinity for film dates back to my childhood. I didn’t realize how lucky I was at the time, but my dad recorded everything on his camcorder. From birthday parties, to camping trips, to random Sundays, we had it all documented! Instead of watching Disney movies like a regular kid, I spent my summers watching home videos. It’s kind of funny, but mostly perfect, that it came full circle.

The opportunities of traveling the world have been incredibly humbling. I’ve gotten to witness love of all kinds in all places and I am forever grateful.

It is my number one priority to create a film that is timeless, fun and heartfelt. To not only make you feel present on that day again, but to remember it in the best way.
