UPDATE: Johnston Police have cited the driver (for failing to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk) from this video shot while trying to cross Atwood Avene after Friday's Veterans Day prayer service at St. Rocco Church in Johnston.
On Tuesday, 2nd grade teacher Sister Daisy of Saint Rocco's School was hit by a car in the crosswalk on Atwood Ave outside the Johnston RI church. Today after a Veterans Day prayer service, a driver almost struck several pedestrians as they crossed the street using the crosswalk.
For next week's paper, we'll be looking into pedestrian safety at this intersection. What can the town and local police do to bolster safety here?
