At Southcoast Humane Society, 828 Railroad, Brookings, Lola! She looks like a corgi mixed with a German shepherd! She’s about three years old and under 40 pounds. Found at the Chevron on the corner of 101 and Elk Valley.
Smaller brown female pit bull mix. Was running with another dog that was not able to be caught.
She had no collar and no microchip.

Lassen Volcanic National Park has been closed due to the encroaching , which is threatening the park’s western edge. This closure comes three years after the Dixie Fire devastated much of the park’s eastern portion (pictured here).
All visitors have been evacuated from campgrounds, and reservations have been canceled. Park employees have also been evacuated from park housing and local homes, with most staying in hotels.
Fire officials warn that the fire could potentially reach both Manzanita Lake and Mineral Headquarters, areas that were not affected by the Dixie Fire.

It was a great day for Del Norte High athletics. The Warrior boys soccer team knocked off McKinleyville Wednesday 2-0, giving Del Norte its first Humboldt-Del Norte League championship since 1995. The Warriors have not lost in its past nine games, and with the H-DN championship secures an automatic berth in the North Coast Section playoffs. On the volleyball court, Del Norte recovered from a sluggish start to defeat Fort Bragg 25-22, 25-15, and 25-17 in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division 4 playoffs. The Warriors got big games from Breann Winningham and Lauren Stutes ("Stewts"). Del Norte is expected to play No. 2 seed Justin-Siena Saturday in Napa. That game can be heard live on KPOD 97.9 FM.
