Dear Friends,
I've put The Present Pony on "pause" for the time being. The primary reason is that my cost for shipping materials has eliminated any profit margin. My gift boxes require boxes, shredded paper, tissue, and sometimes filler. In the past, I picked up all of these items directly from U-line's warehouse. Last fall, due to employee shortages, U-line discontinued warehouse pick-up, forcing me to have boxes of boxes and boxes of tissue and shreds SHIPPED the 10 miles from the warehouse to my door. As and example, a $27 bag of biodegradable packing peanuts cost $60 to ship.
So, going forward, I will be using all the skills I acquired marketing Present Pony to help other small online business owners market themselves. Ad testing, Shopify website updates and social media management are among the services I am offering. I also do design and copywriting. You can find my new website at christinemanske.com.
I have some inventory and packing material remaining and can certainly put a gift box together if you need one. I also have some stock that would make nice horse show prizes, just reach out via DM.

For at least a week, I have been walking around my office looking for an offensive odor. Something that smells like the bottom of a boot or an empty muck bucket. Not strongly offensive, but offensive. And clearly from the barn.
I recently requested some samples from a candle company (not one that I currently carry) that carried some equestrian-related scents like Fresh Grass, Traverse City Cherry, Green Apple, and Leather.
When I spoke to the owner of the candle company she said she had created a "horse" scent for her candles and offered to send me a swatch, as she had not poured them yet. Turns out, I have been moving a small piece of fabric soaked in her horse scent all around my office with this box of samples. I threw it in the trash yesterday and realized I need to dump the trash can. My office still stinks.
She nailed a scent. Not the warm soft furry scent of a horse. It would be more accurately named The Manure Spreader.
Just know, The Present Pony does not carry things I haven't personally fallen in love with.
