Akealeis McKensie, age 18, and Jailen Shade, age 18, are both charged with Aggravated Assault in the incident which left a male teenager wounded. The shooting victim is currently receiving treatment at an area hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin notes, “Both suspects were apprehended by officers with PROtec Security within a few minutes of the shooting following a foot chase. Both suspects were then taken into custody by JCSD deputies and are currently incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending their initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court.”

Sheriff Berlin concludes, “There was a vigorous and large law enforcement and emergency medical response to this incident. There will be many stories that come out of this incident regarding the heroism and kindness of emergency responders and civilians alike who stepped up to help fairgoers who were fleeing the scene of the shooting. We greatly appreciate the assistance of every agency and individual who responded to help last night.”
