The "Weird Al and His Polkas" class name humorously echoes Harvard's "Taylor and Her World" course, yet its learning objectives are very academic! "Weird Al" Yankovic has been an enduring pop culture icon for over 40 years. Studying his work offers students a fun and engaging framework to study things like parody, songcraft, and music production analysis.

Brian Warwick, the Music Business & Industry professor who will teach the class, has worked extensively with Yankovic as a recording engineer on his last two albums, Alpocalypse and Mandatory Fun. Mandatory Fun was a #1 album on the Billboard 200 and Yankovic and Warwick received a Grammy for it in 2015!
