Regardless of personality or saying silly things as both candidates have done, it ALL comes down to policies for me. I don’t need to like someone or have dinner with them to vote for them. Much energy goes in to hating Trump and obsessing over bogeyman myths, like Project 2025 ( which he has nothing to do with and was put out by Never Trumpers and is this year’s version of Russia collusion), as well as the fear mongering dictator nonsense.
Some of Kamala Harris’ policy details are insane. Regardless of party, I honestly don’t know how you could vote for these policies which will absolutely destroy this country. Guaranteed.
(1) A 28% corporate tax. This will effectively kill the profit margins for many businesses, meaning they must do one or all of the following: fire people, pay people less, or raise prices to cover the tax. Business will leave the country. This will hurt the middle class and poor and discourage entrepreneurs.
(2) A 44.6% capital gains tax. You sell stock and immediately nearly half the gain you thought you earned goes to the federal government.
(3) A 25% tax on UNREALIZED capital gains. Let’s say your house increases in value by $100,000. The federal government would get $25,000, even though you haven’t sold your house. If you work hard and start a company from nothing, and in a few years it’s worth $10 million, the government wants $2.5 million, even though the annual revenue of your company might be, for example, $500,000. You would be instantly bankrupt simply because you committed the sin of building up your company’s value. The cap is now at 100 million but that won’t be enough so it will decrease. Its well documented wealth redistribution has a long history of hurting the middle class. All these memes about a capital gains tax not impacting you because you're not a millionaire is the Dunning-Kruger equivalent of claiming a diminishing bee population won't impact you because you're not a bee
(4) Federal price gouging laws. Having the federal government limit what groceries and food producers can charge would have the opposite effect of keeping prices low. It would squeeze out smaller companies, effectively eliminate low profit margin items (necessities), cause food shortages and bread lines. That would hurt small business owners and the middle class.
(5) Give $25,000 to first-time home buyers. Aside from risking another bubble burst like we had in 2008, giving this money to people would simply drive the prices of homes up by $25,000. Any time the government subsidizes the purchase of anything, the prices go up, 100% of the time, just like with college tuition.
Again, these policies are pure insanity. These are coming from career politicians who never worked a real job or had to be held accountable for keeping a business profitable.
The policies are designed to make you think they’re sticking it to the rich people, but I promise you, it’s the poor and middle class that will suffer the most. And Kamala Harris is doing all of this while attending high-energy rallies with stars and rappers, with the media force-feeding us the idea that this is a ticket of joy and energy.l These policies only help one entity become more powerful. The Federal government.
