🌟 New Episode Alert! 🌟

🚔 When The Call Hits Home 🎙️ has just dropped a brand-new episode, and it's one you don't want to miss!

In this episode, our hosts Ashlee and Jennifer sit down with Caitlin Sturges, an inspiring daughter of a police officer and a graduate student in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. Caitlin opens up about the complexities of growing up in a law enforcement family, the challenges posed by societal perceptions, and her groundbreaking graduate thesis aimed at enhancing police training through behavioral analysis.

🔍Key Topics Discussed:
- The stigma Caitlin encourages her daughter to avoid by not mentioning their family’s law enforcement ties.
- Caitlin’s journey from having a positive view of police to grappling with today's societal perceptions.
- The importance of understanding the function of behavior over mere topography in police training.
- Personal sacrifices and secondary trauma experienced by first responder families.
- Humorous and heartfelt anecdotes that offer a glimpse into the lives of first responder families.

🎓 As Caitlin finishes grad school, she aims to bridge the gap in behavioral research within law enforcement—a field that sorely needs it. Her commitment to equipping officers with better tools to understand behaviors and reduce profiling is both timely and essential.

💬 Caitlin’s story is not just enlightening but also deeply moving. It underlines the importance of community, understanding, and the unsung sacrifices made by those who serve and their families.

🙏 A big thank you to Caitlin for her candidness and invaluable contributions to the podcast!

✨NEW EPISODE DROPS TOMORROW!! Let’s welcome our next guest, Caitlin!! This episode gets deep and really starts to address some of the heavier concerns children of first responders have and what we feel during difficult times. We can’t wait for you all to hear it!! ✨

My name is Caitlin, and I am a mom of two young daughters and a graduate student in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with a passion for spreading behavioral information, awareness, and support for first responders and their families. I am the daughter of a retired police officer of 25 years, the sister to a police commander, the sister to a firefighter/paramedic/Navy veteran, and the niece to a police officer. My family has been through it all and remained each other’s support system through unending tragedies, pushback from society, and facing the constant unknowns our first responders experience daily. It is my goal, to close the gap between law enforcement and the lack of behavioral training provided to them. I am dedicated to making the world a more just place for all and to ensure that every first responder and every citizen can make it home safely after every call and every interaction. Additionally, I will continue to be the voice for those families targeted for wearing the badge and the stigma that follows based on first-hand experiences and growing up in an environment with family members who choose to run into danger to help others rather than run away from it.
