The election is now over, and the United States public has supposedly spoken. On our show during the election season in the 2020 race, we said “it will come down if there are more racists than not”. That year, Biden won the presidency, and congress was split. Now
In 2024… and while there are many reasons the vote went the way it did…we said (again) it will come down to how many racists are there in the US, who will vote in favor of racism, sexism, corruption, and a whole host of things most stable ppl are against. For those who voted opposite of Trump and republicans, and yes, even democrats, first, thank you. Now buckle up… and brace for impact. It’s going to be a very bumpy ride… -MK

This news media press conference, which took place 7 years ago in Canada, is a great example of how arrogant the news media can be towards indigenous people across Turtle Island. The way they pose questions to us sometimes makes us feel as if we owe them an answer. That is what was going on in this example. The arrogance is also based on a country (in this case, Canada), whose continued forced occupation of First Nations people was on full display here as well. The same is true here in the United States. We will decide if we will answer their questions or not. We will decide if we wish to engage with them. (or others) Not the other way around. When you watch this video, also keep the people of Palestine in mind. The genocide being perpetrated against innocent people under the false premise of a country claiming to be "defending itself" The current government of Israel has made no secret of its goals. Yes, to stop Hamas, but ALSO using the attacks of October 7th as an excuse for a land grab. But the people of Palestine are "in the way." Just like Canada and America felt about us as indigenous people. That is what this elder is communicating to the members of the press in this video when she speaks of over 500 years of genocide.

On this National Day of Mourning for all of our indigenous peoples, I think of my ancestors, who endured genocide at the hands of the English. Over 10,000 of my Pequot people died between 1636 and 1638 in a very young "America." Today, even as the country "celebrates" yet another year with what they call Food, Fun, and football (and the Macy's Day Parade), they are oblivious that they get to do this all on indigenously stolen Land.
