Per the Town of Red River, the "Town of Red River is expected to be one of the potential shelyer locations for the communities affected by the Cooks Peak fire. According to the New Mexico Fire Info, over 28,217 acres has burned with 0% of the fire contained."

Also from the Town of Red River, the "Red River Conference Center is open for people seeking shelter. Red River lodges will provide housing for the residents of the affected communities as well. The list of participating lodges is available at the Visitor Center office."
The Municipal Parking Lot can be used by people with campers that need a place to stay without hookups or need a place to park when staying in Red River.
The Road Runner RV Resort is also allowing people evacuating with campers to stay at their campground, which does have hookups for sewer, water, and electricity. They also have wi-fi for those who cannot receive cell service while here. The Road Runner RV Resort doesn't officially open for the 2022 season until May 1st, but sites are available for people in need. Please call Katie McDowell at 575-779-9828 to make arrangements!
