IMPORTANT UPDATE - As most of you know, we discontinued paper newspaper printing back in March. At this time, we are discontinuing this FB page. We are working on an alternate project and when that is ready, we will come back here to update all of you with additional information. It's been a fun 10+ years on FB and we love all of you and appreciate all of your kind words over the years!

We will always remember that there are many who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you!

We'd like to introduce you to Terence, the guy that made our Summer magazine cover. Shortly after we snapped the photo of him racing around the new pumptrack in Mallette Park for our cover, he was deployed to help fight the massive Calf Canyon and Hermits Peak fire! Not only is Terence a professional BMX racer, he's also a firefighter from Albuquerque, NM. Yes, we were grateful to have him up here for our cover shoot, but we're even more fortunate to have him and his team out there fighting that beast of a fire! As with everyone involved, we wish him and his team well and hope they all come home safely! Thank you Terence!!!

MESSAGE FROM THE RED RIVER LIBRARY - In just three weeks from today, on June 15th, we will kick off the Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program. The program, geared toward children 12 & under, will be Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30. Each weekly meeting will include storytime, themed crafts, and raffle drawings for some great prizes. There will be a reading challenge throughout the program with the child who reads the most winning the grand prize, a Kindle Fire tablet, at our final meeting on July 27th. Families visiting the area are welcome to join the fun.

If you or your business are interested in helping with the summer reading program, there are a couple of options below.

1. VOLUNTEER - We need weekly volunteers to read for storytime and to assist the children with crafts. If you are interested in volunteering, please reply to this email or contact me directly at [email protected].

2. DONATE - Businesses and residents can donate prizes for our weekly raffle drawings. These prizes should be valued at $15 or less. Examples of prize donations include gift certificates for local businesses, toys, t-shirts, hats, stickers, books, art kits, free dessert, etc.
If you or your business would like to make a monetary donation to the program, you can do so by mailing a check to Friends of the Red River Library at PO Box 263. Be sure to note on the check that it is for the summer program. Cash donations can be dropped off in the donation box at the front desk at the library.
