Prayer for Juneteenth
On Juneteenth, we pray for the end of racism, racial inequalities and hatred in our nation, for an end to all forms of slavery and human trafficking in the world. Living in God’s grace and forgiveness, may we confess and confront our own prejudices and fears, serving as catalysts for change reconciliation and healing. Amen

On this date in 1958 Thomas Merton had this epiphany
"In Louisville, at the corner of Fourth and Walnut, in the center of the shopping district, I was suddenly overwhelmed with the realization that I loved all those people, that they were mine and I theirs, that we could not be alien to one another even though we were total strangers. It was like waking from a dream of separateness, of spurious self-isolation in a special world, the world of renunciation and supposed holiness. … This sense of liberation from an illusory difference was such a relief and such a joy to me that I almost laughed out loud. … I have the immense joy of being man, a member of a race in which God Himself became incarnate. As if the sorrows and stupidities of the human condition could overwhelm me, now I realize what we all are. And if only everybody could realize this! But it cannot be explained. There is no way of telling people that they are all walking around shining like the sun.”

Media Maker, Earth Lover, PeaceCaster: Rhoden Streeter created Human-Kind Productions in 2008 to further his commitment to make the world a better place.

Rhody has an eclectic but extensive media background. “Imported” to Louisville in the late 1970’s to do television documentaries, he is one of Kentucky’s few Peabody award winners. Over a sixty year span (he worked as a gopher on his first film at the ripe age of ten), he has taught film at MIT, shot for the BBC, played a monster in a horror film, was a child actor on television and Broadway and worked on documentaries in all capacities from electrician to director.

He is presently sharing his energy and insight with the Peace Education Program, Sowers of Justice Network, Interfaith Paths to Peace and Compassionate Louisville so you can see why he says if the organization has “peace” or “justice” in the title he is “all in”
