USPS workers rallied for increased protections this morning on the South Side after a fellow letter carrier was killed last week. WBBM's Carolina Garibay reports.

Many postal workers at the rally at 38th and Wabash skipped work to demand protections for letter carriers on the job. The rally came after 48-year-old Octavia Redmond was shot and killed while delivering mail in West Pullman.

Arlington Heights Police's investigation continues after a man was found shot dead Sunday inside the Arbor Lakes Apartment Complex.

An autopsy is scheduled for a Chicago man who died after a shooting at Arlington Heights’ Arbor Lakes Apartment Complex. Police said the woman who called 9-1-1 said the man who had been shot inside had an order of protection against him.

A 23-year-old man died overnight on Far North Side after first responders pulled him from Lake Michigan.

A man has died after being rescued from Lake Michigan on the Far North Side. Chicago Police said officers and Chicago Fire personnel were dispatched to the lake for a call of a person in distress near Loyola Beach in Rogers Park.

Illinois State Police continue to investigate an overnight accident on the outbound Bishop Ford Freeway that left one driver dead.

Illinois State Police said the incident occurred in the outbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway near 159th Street. A driver from a crash in the middle lane was trying to cross active traffic when they were hit by a passing vehicle.

Several families were displaced by a fire on the South Side about 4:30 this morning.

Firefighters responded to a blaze on the South Side at 4:30 Sunday morning at a residence in the area of South Loomis and W 51st streets. A 50-year-old woman reportedly sustained minor injuries. She was treated at the scene and released.

The 26-year-old was swimming with two other men at Illinois Beach State Park in suburban Zion around 8 p.m. when he went under the water and never resurfaced.

Four teenage boys have been wounded in separate shootings on Chicago's South Side.

Two teens, ages 14 and 15, were shot about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in South Chicago. Two other teens, ages 15 and 17, were shot around 4:15 p.m. in Grand Crossing. All four are hospitalized in good condition.

A shipwreck off Mount Baldy in the Indiana Dunes National Park has been officially dedicated as an underwater nature preserve. The 220-foot wooden-hulled Muskegon burned down in 1910.
